Vongon Replay 6-voice Synthesizer

I’ve thought about that too. I just think they could come up some cool internal syncing settings between the two envelopes or something if it was all in one. And maybe do something with panning.

After watching some videos, I can say :

  • it sounds very good
  • it looks very good
  • it’s very easy to use
  • I like the form factor (it could fit in my Live setup)

Edit : and also, the spacing between the power supply and the output is perfect for 2 Vongon pedals.

I literally just subscribed to this dude because I enjoyed a long form pedal review that he did, now i’m like -_-
I get that he’s just doing his job here and marketing a new product, but this made me feel like this really is a synth for non-synth (well-to-do) people. Watching him go step by step, the replay feels like not much more than a Casio keyboard from the 80’s.

If a guitarist out there needs a synth I’d suggest the (on sale) $299 Reface CS.

Sorry Vongon, I would 1000% pay $900 for your synth if it had any unique digital synth features other than the fact that is uses non-velocity cherry switches.
It reminds me more of an 80’s Casio than an 80’s Roland, and I would have eaaaaten it up, but $900 is just too much. I’ve been thinking of a price point that I would be interested and realistically I’m a hard sell on it (based on the youtuber videos) at nearly any pricepoint. Maybe if it was in the range of the Micro - Mini freak $299-599, I would have more strongly considered.

^^ Just throwing that out there, it’s a consumer response, it’s market feedback, I don’t wanna argue with anyone, but hopefully Vongon reads things and cares about the feedback. If they don’t, that’s cool too b/c good for them (who cares!?)

At the first glance, the Vongon Replay is ticking all the white boxes.

Now let’s hear it in a Early 80s Post-Cabbage Patch Kid, Alternative Disco Jane Fonda Workout No-Wave Sweatin’ to the Oldies Mr. Gorgachev Tear Down That Wall We Didn’t Start the Fire Who’s the Boss Retro Analogue Jam

I just woke up and reviewing this thread and im going tin foil conspiracy brain on it.

Vongon REPLAY?!

Why does REPLAY sound so familiar?

Oh! Thats right! Korg Kaoss REPLAY

Which was largely considered to be over priced and had a micro USB connection for an expensive piece of kit.

I don’t really have a conclusion other than:

WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?!

Micro-USB?

Well it was literally in the basket with the pedals but you guys made me look further into Micro-Usb.
I never gave it much thought before but it seems its crap junk that never lasts. Expensive gear shouldn’t be cheaped out on to save a few pennies. There’s enough real estate on this thing for standard Usb surely. Now i’m annoyed they had the cheek to do this as a company. The money is going on an Fountain Pen instead(well part of it). :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Just got these vibes from it

Yeah I kind of feel like this thing was built to sell pedals, Like its basically a step beyond the flexibilty of a yamaha PS-20. That said it kind of screams beach house type sounds, probably more aimed at guitarists looking for a synth they can learn in a day to run into there hardware fx. It looks cool and does that sort of indie band thing so I think we will see them around.

Sounds nice and I love small synths for live use. Would never buy one as there are other things I would rather get if I had the money.

Maybe a few years down the line I would get a used one if they go for cheap

Portable, Roland type sounds, virtual analogue, programmable, patch memories, basic note input, arpeggiator?

Roland Boutique JXO8 fits the bill.

It’s not as pretty, but it is more compact, bi-timbral, less expensive, has effects, takes batteries, has a more robust power connection, a speaker and talks USB.

I like the colour of the Vongon, but not the price of entry. I must be missing something?

I got mine in the mail today, really like the form factor and sound. Filter sounds amazing, and the simplicity of the voice design making is suitable for playing and tweaking. I get that it’s overpriced, but I really like it so far and I have to say the interface is much less annoying than the roland boutiques I have had.

Maybe, but if that’s the idea they could have used an output jack that’s compatible with TS 1/4" cords. I tried using a guitar cable and it glitched out the synth, basically got a bunch of hung notes until I power cycled it. That said, now that I know I need a TRS 1/4" all is well.

It would be nicer if it had a power switch and maybe a few more LEDs to indicate LFO rate and midi, but other than that this is a keeper.
