(Video) Octatrack MK2 resampling the Roland TB03 & TR09

Out of interest, what is the running time of the tutorial video?

27 minutes

Man, you’ve got a great job, haha…
Nice work!

Super, thanks.

instead of having to manually remove the remixing trigs after switching back to part 1, can’t we just either reload the pattern using a shortcut, clear it, or paste over it?

I am trying to reproduce the scenario form the Bandcamp tutorial video exactly, but when I switch between the indicated parts I hear either glitchy artefacts, or interruptions of the audio until step 1 is reached again.

In the same video, Cenk says at about 12:33 ‘…resampled and remixed seamlessly…’ - a unique feature of the Octatrack.

So I am led to believe that I am missing some setting of the sample playback, but can’t figure out which one.

Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Hmm, not really sure what is wrong… What are the settings on the FLEX playback machine?

Agreed!

That would be as follows (Track 1 and 5 settings are identical):
LOOP: Auto
SLIC: Off
LEN: Off
RATE: Pitch
TSTR: Auto
TSNS: 64 (mid position)

Thanks!

Would it make any difference that I am on an Octatrack MK1?
(didn’t think so, but just checking…)

@Dataline out of interest, what equipment are you using to film the overhead shot videos such as these? They always looks great with a wide view. What stand / camera etc… if you don’t mind telling us!

Just for the record, and in case others may run into the same question later - continued the discussion in this thread and concluded the topic there.
Cheers!

Hey, @Dataline, bought the vid and I thought that the Octatrack project file would come with the package? I’d buy it for another $5…

Just thought I’d plug in your project setup and follow your lead in the video…

Can’t really see the exact param values from the video, among other things (like missing a a setup setting somewhere).

Bought the tutorial video today and I think it may have sold me an Analog Heat. Not sure if that was the desired result.

Really good to hear how well the OT effects / processing improve the whole mix though, especially the TB-03. Really dramatic effect. The improved inputs on the mkII are definitely appealing to me now.

New to the Octatrack - bought the video… got most of it working except when I use the part 2 with the flex machine I can still hear the drum machine (tr-08 - in my case) coming thru the input. In my case I am only using track 1 (with the drum machine). Is there another step to mute the input when in part 2?
Thanks

Yes, PART 1 should have a THRU machine. PART 2 should have the FLEX buffer assigned.
As a result, PART 1 will allow you to hear the actual tr08. PART 2 will let you hear the resampled result! Make sure you have a trig at the beginning of the sequencer, which will trig (activate) the changes in the track.
Hope that helps and thanks for the support!

Thanks for clarification Cenk. Super inspiring and helpful for the beginner. Couple of things that confused me at first was also the fact that the arm record would only work if I had the red record button off. And also to make a one shot trig - I had to press function plus the first step quickly. Hope that helps others starting out too.

Feeling dumb, purchased the tutorial but I don’t know how to find it? Usually I feel dumb AFTER turning on the OT. Can somebody help a poor fella out?

Go to your bandcamp purchases and download the “album”. Inside the zip file is an audio file and a video file.
