Utility Boxes: Outbox 8, Powerhub, Overhub II

Hi everyone, our little trio of utility boxes has debuted at Superbooth. All three are pretty much good to go and will be released and available to buy in the coming weeks. Each brings a practical boost to your music-making, be it way more audio/CV outputs, way more power management, or way more data management - super handy! Here’s a little info on each, with many more details to come soon:

Outbox 8

Outbox 8 is a versatile audio and CV breakout box with eight fully configurable analog outputs.

Split your audio and maximize your connectivity to link up with mixers, effects, and modular systems. Channel by channel.

You can route - depending on the device - all of your device’s tracks to any of its outputs: one track to all outputs, all tracks to one output, and everything in between. Or convert MIDI to CV and send it via those eight outputs to control your modular rig and other CV-controllable devices. Mix and match audio and CV as you desire.

Outbox works with all Overbridge-enabled Elektron machines, and your computer and other devices, including many class-compliant audio and MIDI devices (legacy Elektron and other brands). Since Outbox is also a MIDI-to-CV converter it can convert incoming MIDI to CV. To configure what the outputs should do, you use either the onboard settings (available on most Elektron devices) or the Web App.

In general, it can be used in lots of different ways, and with lots of different gear.

Specs
8 × DC coupled impedance balanced mono outputs
Each configurable as audio output or CV output
1 × USB-C port for power
1 × USB-C port for host or device access
1 × RGB status LED
Built in USB MIDI-to-CV converter

Also includes
1 × USB-C to USB-B cable

Powerhub

Powerhub is a one-stop power-delivery unit, able to run up to six USB-C devices from a single power source - up to 30W per port.

Keep things tidy in the studio, and your outputs stable - even as you add more devices - with efficient, low-noise power delivery up to a shared total of 140W. This means you can power any six Elektron boxes with ease, or a wide range of other instruments and studio gear.

Utilize USB PD, a universal, fast-charging standard that uses the USB-C connector to deliver higher power levels than traditional USB, and allows for dynamic power negotiation between devices. GaN technology enables efficient, compact power delivery with reduced heat and improved performance.

Powerhub will ship with two USB-C to 12V angled cables. These cables come with an integrated PD trigger chip able to actively request 12V output from your Powerhub or compliant PD charger. No step-up converters. No manual configuration.

Specs
6 × USB-C PD outputs
Individually regulated, up to 30W per port from a shared 140W power total.
High-performance GaN technology

Also includes
2 × USB-C to 12V angled cables

Overhub II

Overhub II is the second iteration of our USB hub, now coming with four USB-C ports, two USB-A ports, and an SD card slot.

It offers seamless connection and transfer of audio, MIDI, and data between your USB devices. It’s your ideal addition for Overbridge-enabled units and more, and keeps your setup streamlined for both studio and mobile workflows.

Specs
4 × USB-C ports
2 × USB-A ports
1 × SD card slot
SuperSpeed data transfer up to 10Gbps
1 × USB-C port for power
1 × USB-C port for host or device access

Also includes
1 × USB-C to USB-C connector cable
1 × USB-C to USB-A adapter

Any more details on how the CV functionality works?

What is the SD card on Overhub 2 for?

Many USB hubs offer an SD card reader slot, this is no different.

You know, it’s really quite nice just to get a product release, without the fevered speculation.

Wait.

What are the “legacy Elektron”, “class-complaint audio and midi devices”, that are not “Overbridge-enabled Elektron machines”?

Was so focused on outbox, but as using 3 elektrons in my live set - realising now how useful and space/weight saving powerhub is going to be.

Some usb-9v pedal friendly cables would really go well with this.

So who will be the first to deliver a no input mixing feedback/noise live set on Outbox standalone? @Jeanne ?

I missed it. Thank you!

This is so good. I love the Outbox 8. People have been asking for something like this for years.

Elektron really knocked it out of the park with all three.

Models?

Probably will also be in the offering as additional purchases. M:C and M:S take 5V and 9V, Tonverk is 15V I think. 12V is most common across the other Elektrons hence why it probably ships with those.

MD, MnM.

Here comes @ThomasJ with some extra infos.
