So… the Elara 6 just dropped. While I thought the Elara 4 was just a bit too traditional, I now understand what he is trying to build. The Elara 6 is really impressive from what I can tell from the promo video.
I’m a big sucker for mixers and I’m super impressed by this release. The size is perfect as well.
The designer, Andy Rigby, started the Xone brand within Allen & Heath and has designed the 92, DB4 and model 1 amongst others like All Master Sounds mixers and now Union Audio mixers. Amazing track record
I had a Radius 4V which was lovely but I had to sell it for house stuff. On reflection though it was a bit polite for what I realise I want from a hands on mixer (for sampler and drum machines), trying to decide between model 1.4 and xone 92. Leaning 1.4. Elara looks amazing though.
Looks lovely and I imagine, if it is built by Union Audio, sounds fantastic. Cornish Engineering!
He seems to be building versions of the previous mixers he’s collaborated on : Xone 92/96 with this latest release, his Valve Series covering the Mastersounds Valve mixers and the Orbit range covers the A & H V6 and the Mastersounds Radius.
I need to replace my Vestax PMC-250… think I might get one built by the guy with the brains behind some of the best mixers ever made…
It will sound great, he is very into getting the vinyl pre-amp to sound as full as any CDJ inputs, therefore a lovely summing stage. They will all be built in the UK (down in Cornwall) with excellent components.
The hype video has me hyped. It makes more sense to me than the Model range. I can’t put my finger on why. It’s suddenly become the mixer I aspire to. Luckily I don’t have need for it or funds for it at the moment.
Same here. I was ready to buy a Model 1 at a really good price when I saw the Elara 6. It could also replace my Mastersounds Radius despite I would certainly miss the Isolator EQ.
I don’t really understand who the target audience is. It’s very likely that one would have to bring this thing to gigs. Especially when flying that’s not exactly convenient. Are the last 10-15% of sound quality (boldly assuming that the PA is not the limiting factor) really worth the hassle?
I think the bedroom DJ crowd is quite massive for starters. And there are plenty of types of gigs that are not in a club setting (weddings and what not). It’s a boutique company so they probably don’t need to sell large amounts of these to make it profitable. Then there are bigger er names that can demand any mixer they want or bring any mixer they want.
Then there are live performers (although that might be a small target).
So, I think there’s plenty of people that could be interested in this.
