Saw a review from 2024 that said that the plugin’s sequencer is powerful, but there’s no way of getting those sequences you created into your project (the actual midi, i assume) although the plugin can be triggered from midi. Is this still the case?
hey! This is phenomenal stuff right here!
I’ve developing my max rig to work tightly with Battalion and the only thing I’m really wondering is if there will be a way to have “Trigless” trigs worked into the current setup? Being able to sequence Battalion with my own stuff while still getting access to trig locks would be a dream come true!
(I did ask this a while ago in the forum here so sorry for the spam) Thanks for all the work you’re putting into this!
Any details please?
I’ve got Battalion integrated with TouchOSC and Hapax. Works well but I’m hoping for a few things to be added to Battalion!
Yea, so it’s a sequencer that I’ve been working steadily on over the past while and now it’s grown quite a bit. It’s still just a sequencer but I’ve built in some fun stuff for pattern generating, interpolation and switching, trig conditions, markov chains and some other bits. When I started to use Battalion a bit more I realised that combining it with my sequencer could result in a sick combo and so far it’s been the most fun I’ve ever had making stuff. The way I approached this is by utilising the midi functionality of Battalion and building the control surfaces around that. I’m currently capable of controlling individual pitch, mutes, solos etc
Next I will be building a UI to reflect the performance page.
One thing I’m really hoping for is the ability to swap out presets more efficiently like sending in midi numbers into a specific channel or something- if I had a way to sync up preset changes from my rig to the ones in Battalion while keeping stuff smooth, damn… that would be it for me hahah
Here’s a few recent videos of how the combo works together so far -
Hello @trickyflemming, hope you’re well!
I’m trying to make the Battalion labels for Shatter Delay and Headspace Reverb.
Would you be able to share the maths of how the Time, Predelay, and Decay knobs behave please?
Basically I’m trying to get my TouchOSC labels to match with Battalion so I can set values precisely. It’s fine when it’s linear, but when it’s not I’m stumped.
Any help appreciated thanks!
I keep coming back to these! This is one of my favorite things I’ve seen someone create with Unfiltered stuff. It’s a really impressive performance system you’ve created, and it’s super cool seeing that Battalion is at the heart of it.
Min/maxes:
Delay: 0.001 to 2.0 (1 millisecond to 2 seconds)
Pre-delay: 0.001 to 0.250 (1 to 250 milliseconds)
Decay: 0.01 to 15.0f (10 milliseconds to 15 seconds)
In this plugin, they are just linear sweeps, so no exponentiation.
Thank you so much for the words! Can’t tell you how encouraging this is ![]()
What you’re building is such a phenomenal piece of software - it invites so much experimentation and curiosity that it extends to other elements of what I do. A lot of the ideas I’m currently working on were directly inspired with how Battalion works and it’s taken the way I approach music to a whole new level. Thank you!
As someone without an Instagram account, is it possible for you to post even just audio somewhere more accessible… like here? Thanks!
they linked this earlier up in the thread, its interesting
Thank you!
Hey! Sure thing!
I’ve got a good few recordings since the video @xoark linked (which was pretty much my first attempt with Battalion). I’ll make sure to post some audio once I sit down at my laptop
Really appreciate the interest and support!
This is really helpful, thanks!
Nice that they’re linear, had a quick play and assumed they were exponential, often with delays the bottom of the range is given more importance.
Integration’s going well, hope to have a vid up soon!
Hey! There you go - I’ve uploaded all the recent short jams on YouTube.
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPn33vghJ-rlLNthhFU19EAXR86rXeeOT
I’m planning to start uploading longer jams and more flashed out sessions as these are more like little journals documenting and testing feature implementations and the integration stability etc. Enjoy!
Just bought Battalion and love so much about it. The modulation options are easy and powerful. The sound is great and most importantly the ‘Perform’ page is brilliant.
Excited to hear patterns are coming. I’d love to be able to trigger patterns externally and switch between them at any point while keeping sync like I can with Geist 2.
One other request:
- When saving patches it should at least bring up the existing file name as the default option. There’s currently too many clicks and pages when most of the time I just want to save an updated version over my exisiting patch.
Stu from KVR? Haha
That’s the one ![]()
lol this is totally off topicish
but who else pronounces it
Batta-Lion
lmao only me? ok nevermind carry on

Anyone using sample chains with Battalion?
Well they did have a synth called lion so maybe you’re correct
I’ve neglected Lion of late actually. I wonder if it could be ported to iOS?
Been using UA plugins since the original Sandman, and Battalion is one of those plugins I use constantly. It’s my first go-to for all synthesized drums. The only problem is, I moved my entire music production computer over to Linux a while back. Unfortunately yabridge isn’t stable enough for live stuff, so I’ve had to leave Battalion behind for any live performances, which has been a real shame.
I know this is a long shot, but I have to ask: is a native Linux version something that might be on the horizon?
Either way, thanks for all the hard work on this. The new features sound amazing.
