Thank you for explaining that! I knew that Apple had always been scared of apps talking to each other (part of why iOS music was so rough at first), so it makes sense that the files were also siloed.

Hopefully they will allow devs more flexibility and /or improve the usability of the file system as someone mentioned upthread. Would vastly prefer that to a “smarter” Siri…

I uploaded a big new beta to Testflight on Friday. It took a few hours, and then Apple auto-approved it. I didn’t want to formally announce it while trying to enjoy the weekend :laughing:

Anyway, this has all the new iCloud stuff, along with User Samples, sample importing, and background audio for the standalone app.

  • If iCloud is enabled, an Unfiltered Audio Battalion folder will be created in your iCloud Drive to hold User Presets. The folder will likely not be visible until you save your first preset. Existing user presets should be copied over safely to the iCloud folder.
  • If iCloud is enabled, an Unfiltered Audio Sample Library folder will be create in your iCloud Drive to hold User Samples. This folder will likely not be visible until you manually import one sample. I will look for a way to fix that in the next build.
  • Even if iCloud isn’t enabled, this build now supports importing presets to the User Sample Library. It is a hidden folder if iCloud is not enabled.
  • Battalion now supports background audio. It will continue generating sound if you switch windows.

How can I access this on Testflight?

(Also, I’m a big fan of apps/plugins being available on desktop and iOS; it makes me prioritise them over ones that aren’t. BLEASS and Fabfilter are great examples of this approach for me.)

Fabfilter is a separate cost on each platform, though.

So is Bleass, Sugar Bytes, Audiomodern… it is what it is… but having the consistency across platforms is worth paying for if the software is good.

Sonivox Big Bang, 16k files, 13Gb. Deleted it from unfiltered Audio folder, runs much smoother.

I probably don’t need 130 timpanis variations ?

It should be in the next week or two! We hired an artist to put together some new presets that will be included. In the meantime, we’re ironing out the last few bug reports and preparing the store page. I took the past week off with my wife to celebrate our 10th anniversary in Iceland.
