I guess I’ll wait a bit longer. Maybe the price drops down a bit, but mostly because my experience with former behringer products is that they can be quite buggy at the beginning (e.g. the PRO 800 where several bugs led to a complete rework of my work. Now, I’ve got a different issue with the PRO VS mini which seems to end up in several days of work being completely lost).
Well, at least until now, they got the job done, eventually.
I’m not pro or contra any company and I like a lot of the synths Behringer has in its portfolio. But I do this partially for a living. And I’d rather not belong to the early adopters than spend extra hours in bug reporting and reworking my presets.
Price comparison between currencies:
899 GBP (1129 USD, 1037 EUR)
1199 USD (1101 EUR, 944 GBP)
1298 EUR (1413 USD, 1113 GBP)
Why are the prices that high in Europe?
I think only Andersons has the £899 pre order price (which is the lowest I have seen by far and includes 20% VAT for you non tax payers…) with stock estimated Jan 20th Behringer UB-Xa - Andertons Music Co.
Probably trying to make sure it has some orders in other stores (Thomann etc) may have them in a couple of weeks…people are shit at waiting but that’s at £1139 that’s an extra £200+
Dealers have large profit margins to play with for discounting (the dealer mark up is bigger than most people think)…the more they buy the bigger the discount thy probably get.
To give a rough idea of retail margins for hardware: 10-30% of the end-consumer price. The challenge is however that big brands (Yamaha, Roland, Korg, etc) choose with whom they deal, so it is not always easy for dealers to get eg 30%.
Agreed. Although Andertons are one of Behringer Super Partners (if that’s the correct term). Maybe Thomann have paid for the air freight and are passing that cost on?
For a picture see the first post in this thread – from Jan 2018 !
We’ll see how different it looks since then.
With all this talk how much the dealer takes, and the shipping costs, and all the cost of the electronics and fancy key board and the chassis, and all the taxes, what’s left for Behringer to grow and to pay all the people ?
