Yeah the Mk2 is noticeably much cleaner sounding than the Mk1, great for those that don’t want quite so much dirt (there can be a lot on the Mk1). The output stage saturation really augments the synth and gives it a unique character too, I think it sounds incredible for punchy lead/bass sounds once you push the levels into it just right.
Made this last night. Just triggering one note from one MIDI track, and running the audio from the MEGAfm back into the Syntakt for the FX block. (and a Nemesis delay pedal…). All changes are just operator multiplier changes, and occasional envelope tweaks.
hey J3RK! hooe all is good. are you still doing Stroh? we used to talk about comissions for my bug system on muffwiggler
tons of richness in there. nice one
Hey! Yes, I am. Slowly. Finishing up my current build backlog for people over the next month or so, then starting a few new things. Nice to “see” you!
Thank you!
thats great to hear. good to see you here. i will give you an email.
Sent you an email a little bit ago.
This is wonderful
Thank you so much!!
I got a used MK1 and while its really awesome…. Is it easy to make everything sound broken or is mine actually broken?
It’s breaking up in ways that make it sound like the outputs are busted… like sometimes it distorts in the left ear and sometimes in the right etc. is that normal?
So gain staging is a thing to figure out with the MEGAfm, each of the operators can clip if maxed, and 12 o’clock on the volume knob is kind of the maximum and going beyond = saturation or boost for quieter patches.
The left/right ear thing is probably to do with the voicing mode, Poly12 sends a voice to the left or right channel alternately so if you play a odd-numbered note chord you’ll get more voices on one side than the other.
Ok, thank you. It seems like mine is acting as intended then.
What an odd synth I love it
A question…
Does anyone of you have any tips for adding transparent boost?
Guitar pedal etc.?
Do you mean eq? Bandpass filtering?
More like raising the signal without adding additional harmonics
Boost the gain/level in whatever you’re using as a mixer/interface.
Don’t buy an original Klon Centaur.
Do you have a Syntakt or Bluebox?
Those are what I’ve been running mine through, and both can boost the signal quite nicely (among more interesting things).
I can have the MEGAfm down in the clean 30-40 range, then boost that all the way up to clipping if I want without much in the way of added noise.
Not to mention overdrive, effects, EQs, etc.
I have a TX-6 so i can EQ, compress and gain the Channel.
But TX-6 is quiet fuzzywith gain, so having both the synth and mixer be fuzzy about gain makes the process a bit fiddly.
