Torso Electronics S-4 (sculpting sampler)

I think I’m more excited by the Vector Tempera, despite its 11s per sample limit. Seems very straightforward and playable rather than screeny. I already have a GR-1, which I love, but the ‘8 stereo sample, zip around with your fingers’ vibe is calling me loudest.

I think you’re onto something .

The lack of demos is getting concerning. I felt I’d need to preorder to avoid waiting half a year for a second shipment, but seeing such a small percentage of the synth on show it’s getting majorly concerning that a half baked product is coming out.
I’ll give Torso the benefit of the doubt because the T-1 is great and on paper the S-4 should still achieve the gap I’m filling with it as long as it’s not broken at launch, fingers crossed. I hope Torso learn from their preorder strategy in line with what’s coming across to me as a lack of marketing effort as I’ve gone from being a staunch supporter of the brand to feeling very uneasy with them and the current state of the S-4’s production cycle, particularly after their last “teaser” was titled as showing off the modulators, but instead of doing any of that just showed someone hitting the buttons attributed to those functions

Been noticing some comments on the empty space of the unit. To me it looks like the perfect space to have a 1010music nanobox. More granulation with the Lemondrop or create full Synths using the tangerine. That’s where my head’s at with this right now bar being desperate for more demos like I’m sure we all are. Been following this one closely

For batch 2 of the pre-order, it seems they’ve moved the estimated shipping forward by a month. From June to May 2024

Gotta say I’m tempted

I just sold my microcosm and my eyes are being pulled towards that pre order button :eyes: my heart says yes but my brain says wait

I posted this earlier in the thread -

It was a quick rough measurement that I didn’t double check so take it with a pinch of salt. The nanoboxes are about 1.5cm wider than that controller so it might be a bit of a tight squeeze, but the ports are on the back which helps.

Shit! I am waiting to see more videos, can’t believe the first batch is sold out… They have like nothing on the internet for this yet… Debating going cheap and getting a sonic ware texture lab instead

I don’t know if it was smart but I pulled the trigger on this today. I figured once I see that 2nd batch ‘sold out’, I’d get really annoyed with myself for putting something off I know I’d be buying anyway.

some retailers like signal sounds still have their 1st batch allocation

Endless teasing… I don’t know, there’s something awkwardly funny about this whole situation. At this point it’s like watching the beginning of a porn movie over and over again. Or watching Groundhog Day but made by Marcel Duchamp.

Really scratching my head on these “demos”. Is this (fingerprints all over again and seemingly unstructured clicking and twisting) really meant to sell people something?

Get this thing to Loopop already

These videos are more frustrating than anything else. We got to see one more screen and samples being loaded. Woohoo! A positive would be loading samples looks real quick.

The scrubbing shown here is the feature I’m most excited about.

The demos simply do not sound good to me. Get ableton and granulator and a midi controller IMO. the hardware here is not providing much other than “otherworldly” mediocre reverb.

As they continue to show one minute of pretty much nothing over and over it’s hard to imagine paying 900 bucks (iirc?) for this thing

I know some are clamoring for it but given how long the “pre-orders” were up it seems now they are playing to artificial scarcity game. Pre order now or you will miss your shipment!!! There is always the used market. There is always having patience for a couple months.

Baffling to me that these demos continue showing the same thing over and over. Stem > grain > reverb. It feels like they are daring you to fill in the blanks

Guess we will see when it’s out but Ibfeel a large lack of direction

Idk man speak for yourself, they got me suuuper interested! If I hadn’t just spent a bunch of money on other gear I’d have probably already pre ordered.

Hoping to snag one used after people get the first batch
