@dannydisaster Will try, for sure…. Waiting the new firmware for a more stable midi. Have you any examples?
Anyone who has one of these (mine was dead on arrival so has gone back) can it be used for frippertronic style looping on a single track. So endlessly overdubbing loops but with the older loops fading out over time so the material is constantly evolving?
Sound on sound? yes… it can. You can choose how much it fades each time that it loops…(in db)
Perfect, yes exactly that! Thank you
I am post honeymoon I think. This is a masterpiece seriously. Even in the actual state. I’m pushing it hard and it’s absolutely awesome. The concept, the workflow, screen, even the FX are great. It works perfect with drum loops, a couple of them. I’m absolutely happy with it. Working in it, you can do full live gigs.
is it possible to pre-listen to a sample? I don’t understand how to do it)
I agree with this sentiment. The S-4 still has a lot of unfulfilled promise, which sucks (because some of those are literal promises from Torso), but even as is, it‘s an amazing device, in a way akin to the Octatrack in the sense that it allows for fast sampling and sample manipulation to the point of „oh damn, didn‘t know I could do THAT with that sample“
I love my S-4 and do recommend it for looping and sample mangling, I just wish Torso had chosen a different release strategy for it.
When you scroll your samples list, press CTRL + Play
Only on the Beta version.
How to get beta version?
Any news about new firmware?

Here’s a live performance with ambient nature images only with S4. There are drums, I’m very interested in using drums into this machine. I need to test an external drum machine through S4. It’s absolutely fantastic. Drums begins at min 3/3,5.
This is really cool! Love This kind of tinkering!
Thanks for this example! What algorithms are you performing with here?
very lovely, thanks for sharing
Thanks both. Algorithms? I don’t know what you mean. I’ve only loaded 4 samples and began to play with it. I’ve used the basic functions of S4
I’m not super familiar with it, I should check out the manual. I figured there were more specific fx/processing models.
Wow, that’s some serious soundscaping going on, more than I’ve done yet, that thing is very capable! Cool!
Thank you very much! Yes, as I said before I think I’m past honeymoon and S4 is a unique piece of gear. There’s nothing like that even in its actual state. And I firmly believe that I will be bigger with the new additions. Thanks for listen.
It’s one of the things I hope will be implemented. More types of effects. Tape effects, modulation effects…
