Tonverk: User Thread

I can’t seem to get a sample to endlessly loop, what is the tric on the tonverk?

Func+Trig - Scroll down to loop setting, switch to Cont(Continuous)

Hi. Is there any way to rename audio tracks like on Digitone 2?

I was looking for this option to name tracks after the multis and kits I used, so I could remember what’s on each track. But I can’t find it on the device or in the manual.

Unfortunately not, would be great to add along with all the other QoL things from other boxes

Is there a way to figure out the name of the preset/ multi player after it’s been applied to a track?

found an instrument on a track in an older project that i want to use in a different project but can’t figure out what the name of the preset is, since it’s not displayed anywhere, anyone got an idea how to figure that out?

There are two tracks on my current TV project in which there are some note trigs showing as dim red. When I try to add more note trigs, they come up as yellow lock trigs.
When selected in Step Edit mode, the dim red note trigs show notes on the keyboard. However, I can neither delete them nor add more notes.

Is this a weird mode I’m in? Or a bug?

Are you on the lock lane instead of the note lane? (or whatever it‘s called, actual Tonverk users will know) You can choose to edit only notes or locks in a particular sequence.

Looks like you need to press func + ^

Yes, completely forgot about that mode.
Thanks.

Thanks for the replies earlier. Thought I’d chime in and say I got a Tonverk and so far I’m really impressed!

Imo it might be the best sounding Elektron box yet. The effects are way better than I remember them being on the older boxes and the scope for sound design potential is wild.

Plus arp and chord modes on MIDI tracks makes me think this might be a pretty phenomenal MIDI sequencer too (love my Hapax but may opt for something a bit more streamlined). Haven’t got the chance to clock it or connect it to all my gear yet so will report back if I experience any of the latency issues!

Congrats! I’m very close to joining the club.

It is possible to live loop on the tonverk? In particular, similar to the OT it would be amazing to be able to place a record trigger and then sample in sync from internal track/bus/input.

I think the answer to this is currently a no, but it would be really great if it was possible so thought I’d ask! (if not is there a hack that gets one close?)

It seems like such a loss not to be able to do this, given the tonverk’s bus and effect architecture.

I’m thinking of a small live setup to work with.
I want to use Tonverk + OT + Bast Bestie (mixer).
My idea is to use Tonverk AB to mixer, Tonverk CD to OT, and OT main to mixer.
The workflow is the Tonverk doing all the music, then sending a track or bus to CD for live looping in the OT, and then changing pattern for smooth transition. Something like that (todo: experiment).
My question is : which one is the master ? I hear TV work best as master for latency issue, but OT also work better as master for live sampling latency issue too. What do you think ?

If you want to record loops, better to have OT master, otherwise loop length can fluctuate because of slight clock variations.

That said OT is pretty good to record things slaved, I’d try both configurations.

How did you plan to make the transitions ? With the mixer, mutes, OT crossfader?

I have to test, but I’m thinking of use the crossfader to fade out the loop, then I can totally mute the OT from the mixer during the setup for the next loop record.

The idea is to keep an element running from the TV’s pattern 1 when I switch to pattern 2. The fact each TV pattern have its own settings and tracks is good for variety but bad for a coherent live set. I hope the loop track from the OT can bring stability in the mix without the bloat of copy/paste tracks and sequences from one pattern to another.

Considered replacing your mixer option with a Jellymix? A bit more, but also more geared towards performance.

It’s look incredible, I didn’t know it exists. BUT, I’m tired to buy gear and not produce anything with the tons on stuff I own. So I really want to try with what I have. With the TV as centerpiece because it’s my fav.

Is anyone else using Tonverk just as a stem player and effects processor?
I’ve already mentioned here that I don’t like Tonverk’s file management, which is why I’m hesitant to start projects in it, but I’ve found another way to enjoy it. I mainly compose in Blackbox or Digitone II, transfer the tracks to my PC, and then load them into Tonverk. This way, I can keep the tracks organized into folders in case something goes wrong. Or, if I want to put together a multi-song set in a single project, I just load the complete tracks. And I leave a couple of empty tracks for granular embellishments, arpeggios, and such, to add some randomness. It’s made me hesitate to sell it, but now I miss time stretching, haha.

That’s an interesting perspective! To be honest, I’ve never really thought about the structure of sample management—I mean, they’re just files in folders that I select when I need them and then work with. I didn’t realize that it’s apparently such a complex matter. - I’m still missing direct access to the project-specific sample list for the subtracks, but other than that, I haven’t noticed anything else yet.
It’s an inspiring approach to use Tonverk as a stem player; I do that with the Octatrack.

That’s a pretty interesting use case and I’d never thought of it. Thanks!

Regarding the file mgmt I would like to see us able to relocate the files within the RAM, ie move A001 to B001 etc etc. IMO this would be quite helpful for organising things.
