Tonverk: Tips & Tricks

I’ve got to say, I’m really loving the Chronopitch. I’m getting what I can only describe as a “glittery bass” and it’s a sound I’ve never heard in music before.

True yeah. Not sure 100% where it sits but I agree it’s a real fun one to play with on all kinds of sound sources.

How to exclude tracks from the Compressor

Don’t add a compressor to the track.

bwahahaa… brilliant as ever Jeanne! :stuck_out_tongue:

How do get the accuracy required when you can’t zoom into the wave form?

Anybody has any experience with using all Outputs of the Tonverk? Especially the EF output! Bc I trying to figure out what is the problem, OUT EF is routable, however I hear the MIX AB thru EF also, why is that?
I was really happy about that before I tried, bc my main point with this whole thing was to connect it to my audio interface and record all 3 separate chanels (kick, bass, atmospheres) so I can record my livejams and use the audio chanels for production later, sidechaining, etc

There’s an option on the Mix page of master (I think) to control whether EF is routed to AB or not

Yes, it’s H.MON or similar.

Just found it, thanks!

I had the same problem for an afternoon , until I found the ‘HP.MON’ in track 16’s ‘FLTR’ page.

Go to track 16 (mix) and then go to the FLTR page and you will see there’s only one parameter called HP.MON (headphone monitor) and then set this to 0.00

Now you won’t have any sound going to MIX AB into the headphone monitor output

great man, luckly Dave helped me and showed me that haha. I just posted my first all output recording on the “that tonverk sound” tread.

Btw I guess there is no solution about this problem: if I use send effects on any chanel the audio bleeds into all other chanels quitely

Anyone have any suggestions on how to change the output level for USB?

I’m recording from Tonverk via USB to Logic and the audio coming in is very very low. And I can’t find anywhere to raise it, any suggestions? Now I’m just normalizing everything but it doesn’t sound nearly as good as it does on straight out of Tonverk.

I don’t use USB out for the same reasons I don’t use Overbridge. Tracking everything out one track at a time through the audio outs is tedious, but to me it just sounds better through my Lynx converters/API preamps, etc. I can also get the gain staging closer to where I want it

Just remembered another little one for those wanting to find ways to chop up samples.

Though we already have sub-tracks (same sample per pad, different start points) and good old fashioned start point locks, there is another thing to try: Lazy, lazy, lazy chop.

Find a sample you like, set the start point to random on the LFO, turn the arp on, set to any mode you like (cycle works well) then hold down C and let the chops come to you. If there’s a way to inject more randomness into this let me know, but I couldn’t see a way of mapping anything to the mode or the speed or anything. It’s still another cool way in though.

Yeah that’s the plan for finalizing tracks but sometimes it’s just nice to do a little jam and run everything straight out the usb with no mixing – for drafting and sharing.

Fair enough!

Hey @nds0797 does this mean TV is actually capable of handling some velocity layers in its current firmware (albeit not 128)?? I’m looking for a velocity macro workaround…

I’ve had TV for a little over a week, but I boxed it up to send back bc it lacks velocity as a mod source. If you’ve found a way to trigger different samples based on velocity that’d be close enough!

yes it handles all 127 layers now since 1.0.1

Adding a link to this from another thread as its relevant as a tip / trick.

What’s your method to create a controlled ducking on bus-tracks?

I’ve only found putting a compressor on the track and then let an lfo with exponential curve and reset with trig modulate mix or makeup gain of the compressor.

Put it in a video if you’re interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4bgWDwR3A8
(also some free multisamples there)
