Thanks for your help, I changed the sample rate to 48khz and it works now. Awesome tool you build there!!
I’m probably missing something but on your MESET pages, I’m not allowed to load multiple samples at once and once I hit export I only get a single sample without .elmulti.
Sorry, these techniques are new to me and my message might sound a bit silly.
It only supports a single audio file currently
This tool was initially intended to simply create slice markers on a drum loop, on a single velocity layer
I haven’t handled the multi file import to concatenate audio files automatically yet, it breaks the app for now, but I’m planning to work on it
Supporting multiple velocity layers is something i would like to implement as well
Tonverk uses a single audio file as the source of the whole multi-sampled instrument, so the single audio file export is expected (which is basically a kind of useless copy of your original file)
However the fact the no .elmulti file is generated is not expected
On a side note I think Tonverk can use mutliple audio files to create a more complex multi sample, but i haven’t looked into it yet
thanks for your answer ![]()
I opted to go the opposite way for the Tonverk preset generation in digichain and keep the samples (or split the source chain down to single files), as I figured some might want to use individual samples from the multi sample in the regular sampler or on the sub-tracks without having the full chain file loaded into the project.
i wasn’t aware of digichain, very cool !
This definitely seems like the better approach
Thanks! It’s been around for about 2 and a half years now. Focused tools like yours are super useful too, as there’s been a lot added over the years and I’m terrible at documentation ![]()
Seamless Loops on the Tonverk
Since the Single Player is polyphonic, one can play loops (of e.g. stems) with tail, and the tail will ring into the start of the next loop repetition, making it totally seamless.
Drum breaks are a lot of fun in multi sample mode with the random velocity trigs
Here is a video demonstrating in glorious 4k resolution
Also I’m trying to handle multiple velocity layers in my little tool, which works to a certain point (10 layers or so)
Above that, the patch just crashes the Tonverk as soon as I play a note
Transfering patches to the Tonverk is pretty painful after a hundred tries and i’m struggling to pinpoint the issue
Maybe some of my samples that are corrupted?
If anyone can try it out it and let me know how much velocity layers you manage to throw in a valid patch it would be greatly appreciated !
The goal here is to be able to create multisample engine patches with 16384 (128 velocity steps * 128 notes) individual slices by a single drag and drop
So far it seems to work at max 32 velocity layers regardless of the number of slices (tried 4 and 16)
Edit : please see this post if you have any insight.
After a trillion fails I’m pretty sure the issue is neither an error in the code nor corrupted samples, but is rather related to buffer management (?) Which I know nothing about
here is the dev branch of the tool
For reference this is a valid 127x127 .elmulti file generated by the tonverk
127x127.emulti (3.0 MB)
Here is a little drum break patch with a few velocity layers
MOOLTI.zip (7.3 MB)
Wavetable Synthesis?
Just like loading single-cycle waveforms into a Single Player SRC engine and having it loop will make a polyphonic OSC on the Tonverk, it ought to be possible to have wavetable oscillators / synthesis by loading wavetables (a sequence of concatenated single-cycle waveforms, each having equal duration/length).
I have not put it into practice, but by modulating SRC STRT, SRC LSTR and SRC LEND using macros, while maintaining equal distances between STRT/LSTR and LEND should make a wavetable OSC, right? Crossfades would take care of potential clicks.
That is phenomenal stuff! Don’t have time to upload anything onto the TV tonight but I just had a quick play with the dev branch version and a few velocity layers of drum loops that weren’t evenly spaced. It’s basically a cheat code for early 00s Mille Plateaux drums. As I say, phenomenal! Thanks for your efforts on this.
Not sure why I can’t figure this out on TV, but on my OT I’m able to trigger a looping sample once and it will continue to loop even when the sequencer resets. Is there a way to do this on TV? I’m still getting to terms with the Elektron sequencer in general, so it may just be me.
Set the sample to play in loop forward mode, dial in your start and end points of the loop, set the release to infinte on the amp page, place a trig with a 1st trig condition. Not possible on the multiplayer machine, though. Only on subtracks and single player.
Does anyone have some insights into good gain staging practices on the Tonverk?
It seems like it has huge amount of headroom and with droning polyphonic tracks and multiple effects the levels can get pretty crazy to the point where the stock multiplayer drum kits are barely audible if you drop them in later on in the composition process. Last night I spent a good chunk of my session wrestling with levels whereas the previous session I started with perc and it was a lot more straight forward.
Just wondering how some more seasoned producers would handle this as good practice
Thats easy. go to the MIX page and select the view which gives you faders for all tracks. Now pull them all to zero.
Next, bring up the fader of the track that is the most important for the piece, and set it to a comfortable level (Never max out this first layer - important to leave some headroom just in case you need it later on).
Then, proceed to the second most important element of the track, and set its fader to a level where it works well with the first. And on and on, until all faders are up, than there you have a starting static balance you can start tweaking further…
Dont get too hung up master peak levels at this point. You can always turn it up at the last mixing/mastering stages. Better to have extra headroom than having to turn everything down at the end IME
Thank you! Nice straight forward approach.
I think I just straight up forgot/glossed over the MIX page as it’s there on the DT2 and I never seemed to really need it as the track and sample levels did the trick
Cheers
I was trying this, but it seems to stop playing after about 8 passes through the page??
Why so many? Just for completeness? (This is not meant to be criticism by the way, I think what you’re doing is amazing. Just trying to understand the intent.)
Yes just because it should be possible !
In my case I have about a hundread drum loops i use on a regular basis so I want to be able to throw them on a single track without having to deal with presets/patches/file management
I tested Torso s4 when it came out, and the feature I was most excited about was the Resonator. Unfortunately that one has just one sound, so I returned it very quickly. But now with the TV, we can build our own personal Resonators! Thanks to the Dual Comb Filter, Infinite Flanger, Frequency Warper and so forth (I showed an example in my “What is Tonverk?” Video). Here’s another one:
Random synth thing → Infinite Flanger → Frequency Warper
