Tonverk: technical Q&A

No, this is just measuring the latency for incoming audio. I’ll edit the post to make that clearer, since there are various latencies being discussed.

I feel really silly but I can’t figure out how to copy a pattern into a new slot. Same project.

It says “copy trig” instead of copy pattern and there’s no data associated with it.

FUNC+REC to copy and FUNC+STOP to paste. Make sure you are not in any record mode. Page 74 of the manual has a neat list of all the button combos.

Oh that’s awful. I’ll get used to it I guess.

So you can copy a pattern at any point, even outside of the pattern page. Really odd.

Working on copying a pattern to a new location while it plays and I can’t seem to do it without switching to new pattern or triggering whatever instrument was on the corresponding track where you’re pasting.

Off to feature requests. I don’t know why they put so much effort into streamlining UX on the DT2 just to throw it out.

Why is that awful?
There is always an active pattern, even if it’s empty. This is the pattern that will be copied. If you are in step recording mode and copy, you’ll only copy the steps on the active track you are on.

I’m not saying the function method shouldn’t exist. Just that it should work both ways. This made way more sense on DT2. It’s been a while but I think this is back to OT method?

Once you hit the PTN button, the trigs now represent patterns and should be copy pastable just like any other trigs (without the need for holding function) within this page.

This is how the TRK button works, right next to PTN. Hold track, copy clear and paste trigs freely, no function needed.

As it is, I can’t seem to copy and paste a pattern without leaving my current pattern (I’d be happy to be wrong here.)

It’s pretty small of a complaint. I don’t mean to make it sound huge. Just another head scratcher regarding the UX / UI choices on this.

I’m sure things will smooth out over time (as they already have started to.)

They could t do it all at once but I’m confident it’s coming at some point.
I agree that DTII and even more DNII set a new standard for Elektron devices.
This is a new platform.
Please just drop a feature request that explains how desirable this feature is.
I’ll renew my own request as well

Just checking, is there now a mix page to control all four bus levels at the same time with the encoders?

I’ve tried using a MIDI controller to control the bus levels using CH9-12 CC95 but it glitches out and behaves unpredictably when sending more than once CC message at the same time - so you can’t reliably fade one bus track up and another bus track down simultaneously.

The absence of this core functionality (copy ahead on the fly) has been a source of consternation for some time … I know they know it’s absent but after a lot of nudging i’m giving up on the reminders and even the hope it’ll come … it’s a fundamental workflow killer; having and developing ideas on the spot (without gaps) is off the table, it’s a shame as it’s essential to what keeps the elektron sequencer paradigm viable to improvise on … fingers crossed it’ll come one day, this is one where i believe making the FR will help

hey TV users,

2. USB 2 For connecting a power supply to Tonverk. Use the included PSU-5 power adapter, connected to
a power outlet. Make sure to use the fastening screw to secure the USB cable to the device.

3. USB 1 For connecting to a computer to transfer audio, MIDI, and files. Use the included USB-C to USB-C
connector cable to connect to a computer host.

I’ve had some tech that says the USB is just for data and then it can in turn power something else. Can the TV provide power at all or does that work only for the unit itself?

thank you.

My TV has no problem powering my IK ToneX One pedal over USB-C, I’m doing that right now & playing bass through TV bus effects.

nice thank you!

if it can power a small synth and send midi over a single cable, that’s great.

Is there a sample or device limit for Subtrack and Multitrack machines in Tonverk projects or one can load as many as possible as long as they don’t run out of memory? I was under the impression that 1023 samples can be loaded into a TV project that is shared between all machines, but after filling all of the sample slots I could still load Subtrack and Multitrack machines without any problem. The manual isn’t too clear on this subject.

There’s a sample memory limit per project of 4GB, I believe.

Quick workaround i found is copy the pattern to a blank pattern , make the track i want to edit only one bar ( or as you wish ) then when my grid edit is fine hold PAGE+REC to make a copy page then go back to the 16 bar pattern in grid mode, select the page where you want to copy the edit and press PAGE+PLAY to paste .better than nothing and unusable with subtracks ( you will a have to repeatnthe process 8 Times )

Sure, my question is if there is any other limitation besides that. Not having a limit on the number of presets or overall samples for Multitrack/Subtrack sounds a bit too good to be true and I don’t want to find out that there is a limit during the middle of building a live project.

edit: Elektron support responded: The Subtrack/Multitrack sample limit is 7167 sample per project.

Hi everyone,

This is my first Elektron device, so I’m wondering if I am doing something wrong or if I have misunderstood how the sequencer works.

I am trying to apply Trig Conditions to Parameter Locks, but it does not seem to effect the parameter.

The Scenario: I have an FX on the “Subtrack” machine. I want the Dry/Wet mix to open up periodically (e.g., every second time the sequencer passes the step).

  1. I accessed the “Supertrack”
  2. I placed a trig on Step 5.
  3. I p-locked the FX Dry/Wet to full.
  4. While holding the trigger, I went to the Trig page and set the Condition to 2:2 (I also tried FILL).

The Result: The parameter change happens every time the sequence runs. The condition (2:2 or FILL) is ignored, even though the parameter lock itself triggers.

Secondary Question: I also wanted this parameter change to last for more than one step, so I set the Note Length on the trig to 16. This did not change anything—the effect seems to cut off immediately or stay static depending on the setup.

Is it not possible to condition a parameter lock? Or am I missing a setting?

Thank you for your explanation, I hope too that all of this will be configurable like on the other Elektrons in a futur firmware update, as i use a midi keyboard for all my gears in a dawless configuration with one midi channel by device.

Is there still no way to remove a sample from or replace a sample in a slot in a project?

AFAIK, func+yes on a sample in the pool takes you to the browser where you can swap a sample for another sample.
