Tonverk: technical Q&A

Is it possible to independently trigger each subtrack’s sample via midi? Seems there’s a note range of C1-C2 for the subtracks so in theory it should work (thinking about using the TV as an externally controlled stem-player-fucker-uper)

I don’t see any reason why this shouldn’t be so but I’d like confirmation as if it didn’t it would be a deal breaker: In the single sample machine does a triggered sample play beyond the pattern length if the length is set to infinite like in the DT one shot machine? I.e. I will want to use some whole song length samples and I don’t want them to cut off after 16 bars. Thanks.

“yellow trigs” for p-locking effects either on tracks and bus sequencers can use conditionals/probability?

No, unlike DT the sample gets cut with the new pattern.

EDIT: I was wrong: load the same sample and set the AMP release to max on both patterns and it works!

Oh wow, that’s a shame. I guess chopping song long samples up every 16bars is better than every 8bars but it does make me think again. Thanks for replying.

I’ll ask Elektron if this is on purpose or not.
To be frank, I quite like this as it is, especially with pattern jump. But having the option to keep the trail could be nice, yes.

The (send FX) delay trail is kept if it’s the same delay type on both patterns though.

I would appreciate you asking as having long samples carry on over patterns is very handy for me. Chopping them up in my DAW is an option but not a welcome one. Thanks.

Note that you can ask too ^^

Done. :crossed_fingers:

Does TV run internally at 48kHz, or 96kHz? Also, while TV seems to use 32bit floating point on the audio internally, does its AD converter actually use 32bits, or is it 24bit which just gets converted to 32bit internally? And thirdly, what happens to 96kHz samples when imported into TV? Do they get resampled inside? (asking this because of the potential implications to higher frequencies)

@_Niko is this an information you could share?

How to Multisample VST From DaW ?

I have been reading through the various Tonverk threads and it seems that a decent chunk of the work people are doing/ intend to do is reliant on using a computer to prepare material. As someone who hasn’t and doesn’t want to use a daw(or any other external computing) will I find this device at least partially crippled?.

Tonverk runs at 48kHz using 32-bit precision. The AD/DA converters use 24-bit similiar to our other products
For the samples, using 48kHz sampling rate is recommended. It can handle and play other rates but it won’t be played back at the highest quality. It is better in my opinion to save the memory by resampling it to 48kHz before adding it to Tonverk.
The longest sample length possible is around 45 min in 48kHz.

Thank you for these clarifications!

SD Card Considerations / Minimum Specs for R/W?

It’s more of a general question if there is any expected impact/improvement to performance based on lower end vs higher end storage. E.g. can end users expect any benefit to using cards with faster performance than the stock factory card.

Can someone please list all of the options for rlen available in the sampling menu? Manual only lists a few examples. I also don’t fully understand it, seems to be able to set more exact number of bars/steps than DT. So can I always define steps/bars and if so, what options are available for each?

Looking predominantly for more options to record longer loops than DT with exact lengths. Can I set 128/4 or 256/4 for example to record 4 bars of 128 or 256 steps? DT only offers 128 and then all that’s left is max, which is quite imprecise depending on tempos.

Will the resolution of the sequencer change the length I set here (I guess not because it’s independent of tracks?)?

Curious about the USB power and if it’s possible to power TV with say, a MacBook adapter, power bank, etc.

The manual says Elektron adapter only which is understandable, but USB makes one wonder of course

Yes, that’s what I use when I’m outside the studio!

It asks quite some juice though, so my powerbank that I use with the DNII isn’t powerful enough.
