I want a 32-voice polyphonic synth with at least 8 tracks.
It could be a desk or something like TE make.
I’m hoping it’s something along those lines. Looking back at their recent developments, I wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up being a mish mash of several of their products like the Syntakt. Maybe 6 parts, that like both the A4 and DT share polyphony. It would be sweet if they can get the poly count up to 16+. I don’t think it would be economically feasible to have 16 analog voices, but perhaps they can do 8 analog and have a separate set of voice count for the digital machines. Perhaps a device that allows you to take all of their past tone generators (analog and digital) and place them on which ever part you want, as long as you don’t exceed the voice limitations.
That’s what I’m kind of hoping for.
Oh, and keep it in the takt or MK1 housing.
Tonverk…
Tonvverk…
Tonwerk…
T…werk…
Twerk.
Just sayin.
Great, now I’ve got Miley Cyrus’s questionable performance at the 2013 MTV VMA stuck in my head.
Good point. It’s probably an AI powered succulent arrangement tool.
I’d love a hybrid approach. Osc section would be digital, different synth types as machines. FM/phase fuckery, wavetable, VA, additive, etc. followed by an analog backend vcf/vca/overdrive. Sandwiched in between would be a digital base/width filter and an insert effect. Chorus, phaser, comb filter, wave folder, ring mod, etc. digital send fx with the usual suspects at the end of chain.
A Digilog Keys
Hoping for a 21st century Ensoniq ESQ-1 then.
What’s the current state in here? Hopes for some kind of reveal on the namm? Or did the digitakt 2 kill any namm related things? Any new trademarks or anything?
I’m not sure this is genuine speculation, but thinking in terms of Tonwerk referring to maybe a composition tool, I would love to see something along the lines of a sequencer first approach:
- 8 regular Elektron sequencer tracks 128 steps
- 8 linear sequencer tracks, like long piano roll style sequencing with proper polyphony
- 8 sampler/audio tracks for basic one shots / clips
- some basic onboard synthesis but mainly as an external sequencer.
I’m def still hoping for Tonverk at superbooth, however unrealistic that may be.
Tonverk!.. you mean the Elektron multitrack looper/sample mangler?
yeah it’s gonna be announced pretty soon right, lookin forward to it!
I think Tonverk is a next-year thing. My own guess is that it’s a flagship sampler, so I’d expect to see the OT discontinued sometime later this year, or next, and then the Tonverk announcement. Superbooth is probably going to just be DT2. Maybe Digitone II as well, but I think that will come after sometime this year, along with a firmware update for ST that adds some of the new features of the beefed up Digi boxes, but not all (for obvious hardware reasons).
There, I answered all the speculation. Everyone can go home now.
All sounds possible - except I don’t expect a Digitone Mk2 anytime soon (or ever)
I think Tonverk is a synth.
Monomachine MKII - 2007
5.5 years later…
Analogs 4 - 2012
6 years later…
Digitone - 2018
6 years later…
Tonverk - 2024
Edit: added MnM MKII
Thank you for reminding me of the unforgivable omission of chorus on the Syntakt. Those tonal digital synth machines would benefit so much from a chorus, especially the chord machine
Please let it be silver and contain Monomachine magic
Digitone on steroids…
I’d be all for something new. A new flagship in a direction unseen yet in Elektron history.
