Tonverk speculations

Overbridge has worked fine for me and sounds come in just as good as with other dedicated interfaces so I would absolutely consider an Elektron interface if I did not already own one.

One more thing to add here - when comparing trademarks between Tonverk & Overbridge, Overbridge has that primary class 009 while Tonverk has class 015 as the primary. Tonverk also has a class 002 filing for ‘receptacles’ that Overbridge does not have. Would indicate the former leans more on a hardware product versus software in that regard.

DTII preset pattern:

Opposites attract…

(Schizo opinion: pattern 12 means December launch)

It’s a synth that can produce a ton of verks.

If Slagverk is a drum machine, then surely Tonverk is a synth.

yeah based on that DTII preset this is the only logical answer

I don’t think it takes much thought to suspect it will be a synth. The new updates to Digitakt II leave Syntakt and Digitone in a weird place. Would folks be more receptive of Elektron doing a Syntakt II and Digitone II? Because I don’t think owners of all 3 will be eager to jump on replacing all 3 with II’s. For Syntakt as a 2 year old device it’s an even harder sell. IMO better to combine them and just release one product that takes elements from both and beyond. Far easier justification in my mind but time will tell.

I don’t think (or know) if the guts in Syntakt and Digitone even support the new platform… so not sure how many of the new DT2 paradigm updates can be squeezed in there. On the other hand these devices might be holding up potential major additions to DT2 until they themselves have had a hardware revision.

I think lots of people seem to be fixated on the idea that there must be a 1:1 matching across all of the digi devices just because of the DT2 but im really not so sure. The ST is barely 2 years old, highly improbable that’s happening any time soon. DN- no idea. Maybe the DT got updated because that’s the one that had reached the end of its upgradability in its original form, and also the one that consistently received the most user requests for things like stereo sampling etc etc, so it warranted a full revamp in order to achieve those things, whereas the other two dont- perhaps because there’s still capability within them to update for some time (certainly in the case of the ST, I’d hope given its young age), and/or there isn’t the same level of urgency from the user base to add new features that there has been from the DT user base. fwiw, given that the DT2 feels to me like a whole new machine and not just an upgrade, id be very curious to see an equivalent DN2. But id rather see something completely new

DT1 also seems to be the only one of the old ones with only one processor chip. The other two have it doubled.

I think dt1 has two 250mhz coldfire processors. Dt2 has one of the same coldfires and a 800mhz/1ghz chip for dsp

That’s what I’m saying. I don’t think I would be able to justify buying 3 new devices on paper like that, but I could justify buying 2 new devices (especially if one of them was something entirely different). I like working across the 3 (4 when using DNK) but I feel 2 devices is usually my sweet spot when it comes to attention span.

DT was old, DN is old, ST is new. You either shoot for some kind of unification on feature set or you don’t. I think the song mode update was a good example of when that unification was in peak effect. ST is still fresh, arguably not there in maturity versus something like DT/DN but it was released at the stage of more of a finished product in my mind anyway.

Could you update Syntakt to have 128 steps by adding more page LED colors? Maybe. Could you add more shortcuts for things like kits? Maybe. Obviously you can’t add more physical buttons.

I wish they just put Syntakt and Digitone in one box making it 16 track beast.

Is this not out yet? Come on Elektron you’ve had a week off already!

Yeah I need to know if I should sell my MD before “tonverk” arrives :sob:

as in a syntakt with chorus with a poly fm machine that replicates the digitone synth voice?
i’m sold.
throw in euclidean seq, one more lfo mabye? take my money!
i don’t need 16 tracks personally unless i can send the trigger of one to another to do some fab layering.

The obvious machine Elektron should make is a hybrid between the Digitone and Analog Four; basically, an Analog Four with Digitone oscillators that can modulate the analog filters.
