Note that with the prototype the Main Vol text is white. This makes a lot of difference in terms of the blocks that “belong together” and how alignment is perceived as “wrong” or “right”:
There’s two prototypes/pre-production units in the leaks -

We’re not sure which is closer to the final thing. IMO the white text one is more likely to be a later revision.
Now I do
So should we start a separate thread now, for each of the Tonverks? ![]()
EDIT: I now also realize that the labels differ a lot too:
Instrument vs Machine, Sample vs Editor, etc.
Almost immediately after the leaks it was mentioned already. Someone seems to have had access to multiple ‘discarded’ prototypes.
This is clear. It’s why your knobs are too cramped to use, why it’s impossible to navigate your UI by feel, why semantically related concepts are spatially removed from one another in your design (this is much improved in your v2), and why you prioritize shiny baubles like screen-size far beyond their utility.
If I were to critique your critiques, I’d say you look where a design fails to meet your very personal definition of “aesthetic” and see mistakes instead of questions. You should be asking “Why?” a lot more in your analysis.
Interesting. I don’t speak Icelandic and I doubt anyone at Elektron do, since they are based in Sweden.
Not bothering reading this thread much but this is probably the most interesting thing from the leak for me. One looks like A4 mk2 format while the other looks like your regular OT type shape and size. Just be the angle mind you.
Presuming this it’s all not just a giant piss take its pretty cool to see physical variations and to consider the guys thought processes.
Designer dude basically came here to say the entire Elektron design team is less knowledgeable than he is and the conversation about it has been rather lengthy. Criticizing synthfluencers here is totally unacceptable though.
Before these leaks people were speculating that the Tonverk could be oriented around building up songs/arrangements, just based on the name. The images we have do seem to align with that idea.
Why dont they put the func button in the middle? Or have one on either side?
Dae wish one handed operation was more prioritised?
designerbro
sorry had to let it out
The size is really weird - i still cannot believe they are realising it
Not in line with Digi line not with Analogs mk2 not even
with the Octatrack
Maybe the name and keys hint at being intended for more melodic/harmonic sequencing? Step sequencer below but piano roll view on the screen? The elektron sequencer is a bit dated now given the rise of grid sequencers
I think the physical size is a subtle suggestion of where the device fits in their lineup
I just looked at a picture of an octatrack mk2 and there is more misalignment than alignment
People need to chill out!
I don’t get this nitpicking to mockups, I just want to hear the damn thing… it has 3 audio buses, I WANT TO HEAR THEM
Really. After being admittedly disrespectul to Elektron designers you present ugly mash ups of Polyend-Sonicware without even knowing the purpose of the Tonverk. It’s not even in the spirit of an Elektron box. For me, this is double disrespect.
Icelandic is basically similar to old Norsk and has barely changed over the years since it is an island. All modern Scandinavian languages root from old Norse. These languages are connected. I know you are being slightly sarcastic with your remark, but I don’t really mind. However, to me this is interesting…
