I wrote down a few things for myself to decide between keeping the TV or the DT2. Thought would be useful to share here as well. I know this list is not complete but these are the things that matter to me.
TV Bugs
Midi jitter
Perform mode incorrectly enabled
Saving & loading newly created subtracks as presets doesn’t work
Trigs on subtracks copy-paste wrong p-locking values
Minor tempo changes when changing parameters
Wanted quality of life improvements
= things that would improve the TV workflow and work better on DT2
Preview trigs
Sidechain option on busses
Open current folder when func + subtrack to see which sample has been assigned
Remember the same folder when assigning samples on other subtracks
Select right folder when going to parent folder
Copy-pasting subtracks values
Copy-pasting FX settings (both on tracks and busses) → You need to select the right fx first?
DT2 features that I’m currently missing on the TV
= Not mentioning things like slicer and timestretch, as DT2 and TV have both their place in the Elektron portfolio
Pattern mutes
Prep pattern mutes using Func
Page loop
3rd LFO to control filter
Assign midi channels to tracks
I usually don’t mind the silence of Elektron but in this case it would be useful to have a bit more insights on their roadmap. I appreciated how 1010music was transparent about their timeline and priorities when the Bento was launched.
PAGE MEMORY!! Pleeeeaaaase let it remember what page you’re on for a menu!! Flipping between FX2 and FXLFO2 is SO MUCH MENUING!! It makes me feel CRAZY!!
I would love to see an alternate version of the Subtrack machine that’s just 8 layers of single monophonic track. But, I also want this with the ability to autosample internally, so I can build up more complex sounds on the Tonverk itself, then, autosample that into a new multisample set. But, I’d also like Velocity and Note as mod sources (like Pitch Mod, Mod Wheel, Aftertouch and Breath). All of this is sorta connected together.
Multisamples tend to take up a lot of space for long notes. Maybe it doesn’t fit the standard but a nice compromise could be to have most velocity layers be of shorter duration and one layer have long notes. The sequencer would then default to the layer with long notes whenever the note duration exceeds the length of the samples in the shorter layers. This should save more space the more layers you make.
Am I the only one who was very surprised to find that there is no Amp or Filter page for Bus or Send tracks? How am I supposed to control the volume of a bus track with the sequencer for ducking or trance gate type effects?
Hello! This is my first post on the forum so please be gentle
My Tonverk arrived two days ago and it has been a dream so far… The audio quality really feels like a step up to me. There is a bit of a learning curve but I think the workflow will only improve as updates get released.
I’m using the Tonverk alongside my Octatrack MKII and Syntakt, and spent the first night trying to figure out a routing workflow that made sense for integration with my DAW. In the past I used Overbridge with the Syntakt and output A/B from the Octatrack was running to a single stereo track using External In L/R from the Syntakt.
I was hopeful that a similar approach would be possible with the Tonverk, allowing for separation of the Cue outputs from the Octatrack into the Tonverk onto a similar External In track over USB.
The current USB routing for the Tonverk has outputs A/B/C/D as separate audio streams, and allows audio to be streamed towards the Tonverk via the external inputs data stream (this audio is summed together with the physical inputs).
From what I can tell, the data stream from the physical inputs is currently inaccessible over USB, unless you route the external inputs over outputs A/B or C/D. The downside to this approach is if you are trying to multitrack audio (which is my goal), this essentially removes outputs C/D as potential routing for the rest of the Tonverk which feels very limiting.
TL;DR: Please allow for the Tonverk’s external inputs to be accessible over USB without routing through the external outputs, similar to other Elektron devices.
I’m hopeful that this will be possible to add in a future firmware update, and that this is not a hardware limitation based on the included DAC.
My Tonverk arrives today. Two requests come to mind before even getting my hands on it.
-the ability to somehow export stems to the SD card.
-some kind of quantized recording, even if it’s just a “start recording on play”. Although specifying the number of bars would be even better.
Auto sample looping in the sample browser for single cycle waveforms!!! It was AMAZING the Digitone 2 did this, but this machine absolutely needs it as single cycles with the polyphony is absolutely massive, but without it auto-looping like the Digitone 2 does, it is absolutely horrendous to try to find one.
I disagree with anyone thinking slicing doesn’t make sense on the TV. With all the effects being able to slice up a loop with effects then using slices to sequence variations of the manipulated sound sequence would be so powerful. I wouldn’t want another box just for slices. I think both have their uses with the DT more tailored for simplicity, and you aren’t taking from the DT to add the functionality. Beyond the QOL features slices are the thing I want the most.
I’m also a big fan of filter machines. While we do have FX filters, having all those filters available as a filter machine instead of requiring us to use an FX slot for filtering would make more sense. I wouldn’t want to lose the FX filters though.
