+1 for Song mode mutes without restarting the pattern. I mentioned this once in the DN2 feature requests thread, tho my request was not as detailed and well written as yours.
Song mode mutes are almost useless if you use long patterns as you cant mute and unmute stuff mid the pattern.
Iāve had Tonverk for two days but thereās some obvious quality-of-life improvements that would just make sense and have probably been already mentioned in this thread. My top 4:
Assignable midi channels for all tracks
Obvious. Other Elektron devices do it, and chances are youāre not only using a Tonverk. Why should a midi router be necessary to make it play fair?
FUNC lock for one-handed operation
With FUNC all the way to the left you need giant hands to reach most things youād use with it with only one hand. Iād suggest a tap of FUNC toggles FUNC lock on/off, while a hold (possibly with a press/turn of another control) treats it as momentary.
Arpeggiator/note hold
This is a basic arp/keyboard function that as far as I am aware is not implemented. When arp and hold is on, as long as one note is pressed down subsequent notes are added to the arp, and then held once it is released until new notes are hit. When arp is off, notes are sustained indefinitely.
Audio in as source for machines
The above three should be straightforward QOL improvements; this feature is likely more complicated. But: given that audio in can be assigned to a track, using it as a source for a machine would be very cool. Wouldnāt work with all machines, but if Grainer or Wavefinder could work with live audio you could get some wild stuff.
extra filter modes would be very nice on the various machines and busses.
already mentioned but Iām really wanting an EQ effect or EQ filter modes.
multisample looping, tried that earlier and was surprised at how barebones the player was, quite a lot of scope for improvement there which I imagine will happen.
some kind of master buss effect would be nice for quick finalising of a track. something like, high shelf, low shelf, mono frequencies with a target freq, perhaps a single dial compressor or saturation. this could fit on a single page. Not sure this would happen but it would certainly make good use of the final effect slot.
Do you think itās possible for them to be able to make it so that one of the outputs on TV can be swapped to an extra input? Itās one of my biggest let downs after some time with the device. I canāt imagine that many people would need 2 outputs over 2 inputs?
Anyway there are 2 inputs. Mono inputs. Mono should be fine for most uses. -lots of FX pedals have mono in stereo out.
Also there is a small chance that overbridge will enable multi-inputs.
Yeah perform mode seems pretty weird, since it only applies to a single pattern. Iām not sure how itās intended to be used at all.
It seems it has one small advantage over Memorize+Recall in that if it switches patterns your old pattern is not destructively edited. But it doesnāt seem like itās very useful for performing with. Iām curious how the designers intended it to be used.
I think performance macros would have been a better use. I havenāt dug into it though but currently for me itās just accidentally turned on and off occasionally.
When we perform pattern copy/paste, both kit data and sequencer data are copied. However, we cannot copy a trackās preset and sequence at the same time. We can only copy either a preset or a sequence.
Copy/paste works quite differently for patterns and tracks, which looks inconsistent and odd in terms of product design and UX. Iād like the copy/paste functions to be unified between patterns and tracks.
The following functions are missing:
Copy patternās kit data without sequencer data
Copy patternās sequencer data without kit parameters
Copy track as a whole (trackās preset and trackās sequence)
These features, if introduced, would simplify the process of copying things between different patterns a lot. Currently, itās a pain.
An audio track machine. A simple machine to record audio to that runs parallel to other tracks and is uninterrupted, and excluded from pattern changes. Similar to the Sonicware SmplTrek and Roland Verselab audio track.
In the Modulation Destination menu for LFOs, it would be great if we could have each destination type clustered into categories (āFilterā, āAmpā, āFXā) instead of a great big long list.
DT2/DN2 have a neat layout where the destination category (filter, amp etc) is on the left of the screen and the individual destination options under that category are set out on the right of the screen (cutoff, resonance, filter env depth etc). It makes it so much faster to navigate.
This would particularly helpful with the Subtracks Machine where thereās a really long list (8 x all destination options) you can send a LFO to. Also with the FX LFOs itās not always obvious if youāre sending a LFO to a destination in FX slot 1 or FX slot 2.
In the modulation section
PB, AT, MW & BC
please include the VOICE LFO parameters as destinations.
It really threw me off that I couldnāt modulate VOICE LFO depth and speed.
I thought it might be some limitation hence the omission but then upon some RTFM I saw that all VOICE LFO parameters indeed have CC associated to them.
