The sounds saved on the syntakt are just the parameters that modulate the oscillators, literally bytes for each preset…the syntakt has a 1gb hard drive but definitely doesn’t need it 10mbytes would be enough…i wonder why it has that much storage…maybe they have something planned for it…hmmm…
You may use the AFX bus for this, don’t forget it!
Not as precise as what you are suggesting, but there is a workaround ![]()
You can also send a mail to feature-request@elektron.se
I know based on architecture that it’s unlikely for us to get both condition AND probability like the digi2’s have, but one thing that I don’t think is unreasonable is to request the NOT condition for the different trigger conditions related to loop count. Like, I can have a trig fire on 1:4 but I can’t have it only skip the first of four. This is not the end of the world as far as limitations go because 64 steps can go a long way and you can usually just do a 4 page sequence to deal with it, but for those of us that like to actively add/subtract trigs during play it’s usually more sensible to keep things to 16 steps on percussion tracks so that you don’t have to quickly update 2-4 pages of trigs just to get a persistent rhythm per bar.
Also, it would be ingenious and wonderful if we could include page loop settings in song mode rows the way we can pattern mutes, and would go a long way to circumvent the lack of kits and start to approach the power of the “scenes” approach in the op-xy song mode.
I read this thread and all I’m thinking is this is a list for Elektron for the syntakt 2 or some other machine.
To break it down this machine has had 3 update
1.1 bug fixes
1.2 Led brightness
1.3 Big update
It’s a £900 machine that you can read in this thread could have many potential enhancements.
I’ve just got a feeling no more updates are on the cards and in the future the fanboys will argue it was a well supported machine that had many updates.
Fingers crossed I’m proven wrong.
I bought this machine on release and just assumed it would get a compressor by 1.1
I don’t think a compressor is possible on Syntakt because of all the analog circuitry.
(…or it would be very limited in terms of which tracks could actually use it and people would complain anyway)
@Nils «Tonverk and its siblings»
This doesn’t appear to be true looking at my emails, siblings was never mentions in my November newletter.
You never know. ![]()
It comes down to cost of developing a next-generation device vs. benefit of attracting new customers to Syntakt and making the existing owners even more loyal.
Maybe they’ll focus more on Digitone II instead.
Only Elektron knows the true sales numbers of each device, etc.
I did email them my Syntakt feature request list today though ![]()
(finally got around to writing it…)
That passage is still there in the first post of the Tonverk OS 1.1.0 thread. Towards the bottom of the post, there is a passage in italic:
I’m sure we’ll see something good coming to the Syntakt eventually.
Seen it now, thank you.
That looks more promising.
All I want is that nice gluey compressor that we had on Digitakt 1 on Syntakt.
All of you who say Syntakt is done and will not get another update are just trying to rationalise the fact that you haven’t bought a Syntakt in the expectation that a Syntakt II will soon come.
And I, someone who bought a Syntakt, am rationalising my disappointment in the lack of updates by telling you you’re wrong: Syntakt will get an update.
Unsubstantiated rumors make me drool
it’s so hard to trust, yet so easy to believe… maybe I should take Wednesday off of work ![]()

But honestly I’m not gonna be surprised either way. I’m quite certain Syntakt will get another update, but I just don’t know when or what it will be.
Ezbot said something about it too in his cagey “I mean based on what I’ve heard from elektron they definitely didn’t forget about it, not saying for sure but it makes sense they’ll update it sometime” way tha has in the past foreshadowed other updates
Just wanted to say I received that email too. So that’s confirmed – but obviously don’t know whether the music store really knows anything…
Why would a music store know about a firmware update from a secretive company?
Maybe assuring the music store the product is still supported so if the store make any orders there’s more chance the product will sell rather than sit on the shelf?
Elektron said themselves it’s not the end of the story for Syntakt, in some other words so an update would be no suprise to me, they’ve had a lot of other stuff going on!
Wednesday can’t come soon enough
Cool info! Just remember: Expect nothing and you will cherish anything ![]()
I’d love to see the same machines with the second page parameters rather than new machines.
