Brilliant! That’s precisely the direction I was thinking of heading.
The fact that AM modulation worked on incoming signal was a good surprise !
Congrats mon ami! The Tonex sounds great, doesn‘t it? Interested to know how you fair with the Tonex One!
Sounds good yes !
I kept Tonex Pedal because of tweaking possibilities but I miss the small size and usb power of Tonex One. The new Tonex Editor made it much more interesting (no latency by editing loaded preset parameters).
No I have to select my favorite models.
I may buy a Tonex One again later. I hope they will make something with ios audio compliance, small and with all parameters.
I have a Line 6 HX Stomp with FRFR portable cab and that works well for recording and jamming besides my tube amps. I probably will sell off my tube amps due to maintenance and space. Tried a used Fractal and loved it so looking to get a new Fractal Axe FX FM9 or FX III next year once I sell off more gear.
Not a shocking result considering Sol’s pre-existing musical training and experience. Yvette Young has a cameo
I got this Chase Bliss clone in the mail from AnalogMan today.
I asked him to make one to Marc Ribot’s specs. Basically just a lower gain version I think. I probably should have gone with the traditional purple, but it was hard to make up my mind.
I have to admit I was swayed by this sexy photo of the silver color I saw online.
I’ve got a few new dual dirt boxes. They can’t all be on my board so there will be a shootout.
Oooh, the Twinsonic. I’m very interested in that one as well. Please share your Experiences with it.
The TwinSonic II has been on my radar for almost a year now, but they don’t have a distributor in the US. They had a sale last weekend so I went ahead and ordered one. I’ll post my thoughts after I use it a bit.
Just shouting out the quality of fender noiseless pickups.
I live very close to a railway line and there’s some pretty terrible RF interference here, even affecting humbuckers.
I had a 2000-2001ish Mexican strat that was the first guitar I ever bought myself but had become almost unplayable.
Local incredible guitar workshop (Sam at east London guitar repair) refretted, upgraded the electronics and pickups for me and it’s suddenly like a new instrument. And absolutely noise free. I love it.
Nice! Here’s my Fender Strat Ultra from 1991. Also noiseless. This is basically the Strat version of Johnny Greenwood’s tele plus (red and blue lace sensor pickups like the tele plus, and a lace gold in the middle on mine, most have lace silvers). Also, roughly the same pickups as on the old Smashing Pumpkins albums. It excels at heavy tones, but also does very bell like tones well, like on the intro to Smashing Pumpkins’ Today (that’s exactly what the middle position, which strangely on this guitar is neck and bridge like on a tele, sounds like). Not for purists, I’d say, but it’s got a unique sound to it.
Also, all these years I thought I didn’t like the neck pickup because it was too boomy, but after watching this video I realized that if I cut the bass on my amp waaaaaaay more aggressively it actually sounds really great and it can get closer to the classic Hendrix Strat sounds.
While I’m posting guitar pics. Here’s that Epiphone Crestwood Custom I picked up a while back. I just got it back from my repair guy yesterday. He lowered the nut and set it up properly for me. I also had him put Gotoh Magnum lock tuners on and he swapped the jack and switch out for Switchcraft ones.
It’s actually a great guitar. Insanely light. I put flatwounds on it and am kind of making it into my spaghetti western/trashy garage rock guitar. The pickups are cool. I’ve never had mini humbuckers before. It has a very different sound than anything else I’ve owned.
The guitar that’s been with me for almost 30 years now? And has been through the wringer.
A toothpaste logo Charvel Fusion Custom. (‘89-‘91) Made in Japan.
Dinky body, short scale but 24 frets. Compact and built for speed.
Lost the original pickups (one regular humbucker, two thin rail humbuckers) unfortunately. Used to have an EMG-81 in there, but went back to a passive DiMarzio D-Activator. Green because Type O
My go to for anything metal.
Hot damn! Envious.
I had a Fender "Deluxe Strat Plus’ with this same pickup combo; bought it new in '94 (?). It also had an ash body…I loved that guitar, and your right about the Greenwood/Corgan tones. Alas, I pawned it out of financial desperation a few years later, and still hate myself for it lol
With the lace sensor pickups I’m guessing? I always thought that those sounded really nice on the strat plus.
Meanwhile I’m not sure what’s going on with the lace sensors these days. Alumitone pickups just seem a bit odd to me.
and that lace cybercaster was one of the most unattractive guitars I’ve ever seen. they were blowing them out super cheap a while back.
Yeah, it had the red Lace sensor in the bridge, a gold in the middle, and the blue in the neck. I actually had a roomate at the time who had the Tele (I’ve always called it the Greenwood Tele lol), but he played wanker wannabe SRV stuff in it and IMO wasted its potential LOL
This a really nice groove. What’s the tuning? sounds like it starts from a low C?
