The BITWIG Thread

Just started using Bitwig 4 today.

Is anyone seeing higher CPU usage in the DSP graph?
I’m on an Intel based MBP, and my DSP graph is way higher than it used to be.
I’m getting some cracks/pops when I didn’t before, and my fans are kicking in.
Trying to narrow it down…

i finally get 4.0.1 to install on a xbuntu install, don’t know if i like this linux version :stuck_out_tongue:

btw, I can relate the same with Ableton Live11. I absolutely don’t know why.
(I intervene to say that me too and on the two software, I make the same observation)

Can someone recommend a not too expensive controller to launch clips and scenes and enter drums sequences?

Not tried it but Launchpad seems to get a whole lotta love

Yep Launchpad with the DrivenByMoss scripts works really well for clip launching, sequencing, note entry in whatever scale you want etc etc. I have a Launchpad X but I think pretty much any of them would work just as well

I installed Bitwig 4 today, but will not have an opportunity to thoroughly check out the new features for a few weeks. Nevertheless, I am glad the comping feature is added, which will be helpful for vocal and live instrument recordings.

Push 2.

Today is the last day of the summer sale, just a heads up! I waited until the last minute

Also, a reminder that you can buy an upgrade plan package today but redeem it later. For example, my plan ends in August and I’ll likely not redeem the upgrade I just bought until 4.1 comes out, unless there’s an unbearable bug that I need fixed from a 4.0.x update.

Question I figured some of us have experience with here. Just got a 18i8.

Here are my audio settings:

Plugged my Lyra-8 into the Mono channel (1) and the Audio Receiver is picking it up and I can record something but I cannot hear it. I exported the clip to see and I still can’t hear the exported WAV? This is driving me… nuts :upside_down_face:

Is there anyway to monitor this? Hear it once recorded?

You want to listen using the built in computer outs?

Yea. Figured setting the output to Master would do it. I am also stumped why the exported WAV has no sound… so weird!

Have you right clicked on the recording, reveal file and then listen to the file in another player?

Aha! Ok so there is sound when you do reveal file (had no clue you could do that). I guess what it “recorded” is what I hear, which is nothing, when I did the export.

Now the question is why can’t I hear what’s coming in from my audio interface. I feel like I am so close!

I’m assuming your Master is set to output to “Speakers”

Yea I can hear all of my VSTs, Poly Grid, etc…

I don’t understand why you would have Bitwig set up to monitor with the built in computer audio, when you have a new soundcard. Why not setup outs to be your soundcard outs?

Yeah, was just about to say it seems odd the “output device” is set to internal

this

The big question is: If I set the output to master why can’t I hear it?

I don’t have much gear with me (traveling) so hopefully the headphone outs are all I need. I often just use the laptop by itself so that would be why. Constantly switching would not be fun but if that’s how it is done I’ll give it a whirl.
