Iām such a CR-78 fan, so thereās yet another Behringer box to tempt me. The demo sounds awesome and visually looks nice (Iām not surprised to see they didnāt try to recreate the form factor of the original).
Uh oh, - 78 is hard to ignore
Chorus sounds impressive.
If this is like $130 i donāt know that I have the self restraint to refrain.
Def get the 78. I have the real thing midied up and it seems to sound the same or better. Life is too short to waste trying to program an accurate āmetal beatā voice elsewhere. And samples donāt have life.
Gotta wonder whatās up with the synth samurai hat though.
hahah⦠so corny.
But yeah⦠this 78 looks tasty.
Not sure Iāll be able to control my insta-buy when itās available
The hat? I was thinking it was related to that youtube channel with the jim rome style podcast format. The guy who wears some kind of oakley blades or other band style sunglasses. Corny indeed, just wondering about the association between this and that. Pretty sure that guy calls himself the synth samurai.
This gearnews link says it could be available for order as soon as tomorrow.
yeah⦠the hat. Thx for the connection to the YT channel. I was unaware.
Either way, sounds so silly. hahah. But, all good. Ppl can do silly stuff. Better than hate, I guess.
The preorder page for the RD-78 is up on sweetwater. The price is $199 in the US.
looks cool but i donāt really get it
isnāt it easier to just put cr-78 samples in a digitakt
Not if you want it to behave like an analog drum machine, but yeah i mean you can use the same couple hits repeatedly as samples and most people wont know the difference.
The rhythm machines from this era are quirky and the pulse shape that triggers the patterns varies more than youād imagine so you kinda get variations in the sonic texture. They really have a character of their own, but itās a super antiquated sound. You really have to like that organ rhythm box sound.
thatās cool / i was genuinely not aware of this
hopefully the behringer one captures that whole vibe
Itās bound to be similar but unless a person has a cr78 to compare it to, then its almost a moot point. Although those kind of videos will pop up without fail.
Sometimes i question if the people are actually trying to do fair comparisons though, I mean Iām not proactively supportive of the company but Iām more interested in clinical trials and fair comparisons than I am in opinions. If someone does a comparison with a preconceived bias, I feel like it translates to the implied narrative.
I just like having accurate data so I can form my own opinions. Frustrating that we have to wade through so much opinion just to get any straight info but I guess thatās just how the game is played. The RD-78 sounds good in the B demo, but B demos always sound good, user jams not always so much.
At the end of the day, this machine for $199 is going to be an absolute no-brainer for a lot of people
They are going to move a lot of units, I think
I was just stoked when those sounds showed up in the TRs.
Are there really that many people who want to buy a hardware drum machine with these 70s organ companion sounds?
Looks and sounds like a well thought out machine and definitely offers something unique amongst all the other modern drum machines. Donāt like how cluttered the step sequencer looks.
Auto fill and breaks look really interesting. How do these work? Some basic algorithm that transforms all of the track sounds for one bar but based off the actual steps for each track? Or will these always play the same pattern no matter which steps youāve programmed?
