A audio patchbay is great for thing like this:

This is one of my biggest usability gripes about MPC 3. I will say the MPC XL has a pretty nice solution to this with track up and down buttons.
Another thing, the plus and minus could scroll up and down on clip matrix, donāt think it does anything here
This looks very promising, thanks for pointing me there.
So looks like I could have the MPC and each pedal going to their own I/O in the rear, always ready, and then patch accordingly in the front? That āhalf normalā stuff also looks like it could unlock some pretty interesting capability as well.
I got into MIDI & audio patchbays back in like 2019/2020 & both were the best utility gear I ever added to my studio. The audio bays are more complicated to setup because of all the different ways can be setup, especially the one I linked because those switches on the front with 3 states. Some bays make more difficult to change.
I would watch some videos on APBs in general & or DL the manual for one I posted. I got 3 of them but only use 2 right now but the 3rd could be used for my 2nd smaller set up. I was mad that it took me almost 20 years to even know these things existed. I seen them before but didnāt know what they did & they look like something only major studios would need - boy was I wrong!
Patch bays brings all your gear together in more efficient way. Espen Kraft AKA Mr. 1980s man, had good video on them. He showed how you can have to devices share the same input ports via have the outs of 1 going into the top-rear ports & the 2nd machine outs using the top-front ports while in the half-normal state.
Does anyone else have much luck saving samples and reusing them in other projects? I always end up with samples that are cut off sometimes it works but I canāt figure out why itās happening
Iām generally using audio in clips not drum programs.
So Iām saving from clip matrix screen
Ha. I feel the same. That audio buffer size and āLPP3 support for clip-launchā will change my life⦠But bricking my Live OG will also change my life.
Have anyone replaced their data wheel on the mpc Live III?
I have noticed that you obviously scroll with that one a lot, and that it would maybe be good to replace the knob with a knob similar to the mpc 2000xl. It feels like it would go faster and smoother using one finger instead of using the whole wrist and all fingers.
They have a replacement on mpcstuff, but just wondering if someone has any other suggestions.
The hacks has been out for years now. How many people have reported that it bricked their MPC?
Iāve heard of any for Force MockbaMod hack.
The obvious solution is to buy a second hand One and install the 3rd party OS as a test case.
Circling back with a tiny addendum to an earlier post I made here regarding use of an RME Fireface UCX II as an USB audio input device with the Live 3.
Tried again today and continued to get sharp static-sounding glitches with the UCX II at random intervals.
Tried a Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 from the closet and no issues.
Thatās sad to hear. For ages I had clicks with my Live II and UCX II that got worse the longer they were powered up. Eventually it got fixed with a MPC firmware update. Canāt recall which version but it was 2.something.
Iāve had the MPC Live MK1 since it was released but I never really āconnectedā with it. I love the MPC workflow (had a 2500 before the Live which I loved) but I dislike the Liveās interface and lack of hands on controls.
Now the XL has gotten my attention. As a matter of fact I canāt stop thinking about it. Plenty of hands on controls, qlinks, upgraded internals, etc. It is however VERY expensive. Iām thinking about selling most of my gear (MPC+4 Elektron boxes) to fund it. Working on a single device is something Iād like to do.
Those of you got the XL, are you having any second thoughts after buying it? Are you having fun with it? It doesnāt seem like a popular choice though, Iām guessing due to its very high price?
I had similar thoughts as you! Iāve had it since launch. Got an XL on day one. Where do I stand with it now? I might sell it. I wanted it to be the one device. I donāt think it is. I feel a little stupid after selling things to fund it, TBH. It is very good, but it takes up so much space and really isnāt as open ended/customizable as Push3, which has earned itās place back as front and center at the moment.
There are lots of things I like better about it than P3SA, but many things that I donāt. I actually just took the XL off of my desk a few hours ago and Iām going to give it some more thought. The vicious gas cycle continues (sigh).
I got a set of these ages ago for my Live 2 but swapped them to my Live 3 almost immediately.

They are quite expensive but I do think they are very nice although i did manage to just get a plain black set.
A Push 3 stand alone might even be a better comparison for the XL than the X-SE
Straight to the point with some basic Qlink tips:
Hello everyone,
I have a question about the Q-Links for the experts here. Iāve been working on this for a while now, and even after reading the MPC Bible and watching videos, Iām still stuck.
I would like to assign different parameters for all tracks to the Q-Links. In Q-Link Edit Mode (Project), every track should be adjustable with the assigned Q-Links, right?
I wanted to create a Q-Link template so I can stay organized and start new projects with it. But strangely, I configured Q-Links in one track, and as soon as I load something new, the Q-Link parameters disappear.
Iāve only made light use of Q-Links so far, a few at track or FX level and a few globally for the whole project. One thing I did notice was that some appeared to disappear - i.e. when I returned to the specific Q-Link page half of the knobs seemed empty. However, when I actually turn the encoders they appear. I concluded it could be some kind of graphical bug but I have yet to chase it down and document it for sure. I could be wrong though as some parts are still mysterious at the momentā¦
If you load a new program in the same track, then the project level mapping is gone for all the mapped parameters in that track. It makes sense, since one can load any type of program in a track.
