- USB MIDI: bluebox now receives and sends MIDI over USB.
No MIDI through, though. This remains on my wishlist: a proper MIDI implementation and MIDI settings menu.
At this point, itâs a minor issue since the latest update(s) made the Bluebox finally work (for me). Regardless, itâs a basic function, and Iâve been âconfusedâ that it wasnât implemented from the start.

Huh. I was thinking of an Xcelon SL, but this might have just convinced me that I should just chain a second bluebox for sponge extra channels and call it got. Not as sexy, but itâll do what I need.
Ooof, disk mode is slow! I think I could backup the entire microSD directly in the computer faster than one 150MB file from disk mode.
Iâm a bit late in the game, as I acquired the Bluebox just this week⊠Totally loving the updated firmware! I feel pretty spoiled with all the new functionality.
Hopefully they update the manual too! The one on their homepage is from 2021âŠ

We have to give it to them, it took a looooong time (have been a BB owner since its release), but they implemented many of the requested features!
There are still a few things I would love to be added in an update, that would finish to streamline the box:
- reverb and delay presets (especially the return of the original reverb presets), with the ability to save your own
- end of chain saturation, soft clipper and limiter for that final touch

please! just picked one up and trying to dial in a good useful reverb from scratch is not ideal
Pretty sure the reverb is convolution, so probably worth asking about options for uploading IRs, or maybe they were removed for performance reasons?
IIRC the reverb is purely algorithmic, I think it was said in their early forums. The first v1.0x firmware had a dozen reverb presets though, and many folks like me asked for the return of presets when they introduced the new (tweakable and more flexible) reverb in an update.

That 1.5 update has me interestedâŠtrying to decide between the euro rack version (where I most need a small mixer/recorder) or the standaloneâŠany input?
I havent seen any pictures/videos of the oscilloscope yet, any good?

Thanks- does indeed look very good and a eurorack oscilloscope is a few hundred and a bunch of HP) on its own.
I am definitely getting a bluebox now, the only decision is the eurorack version or the desktop. The eurorack version is tied to my rack (one location) but has better I/O, USB C and multitrack over USB. The only thing I donât like is the I/O on the left. The Desktop is obviously more portable but no CV in and needs a bunch of splitters (not a big deal), its also availbe second hand for about 380 so a lot cheaper.
Tough decision!
Edit- looks like multichannel audio works with PUSH 3 (which I own) which may seal the deal- Iâll just wait until there is a bit more on this!

The desktop has less ins/outs over usb.
The Eurorack is the way to go especially if planning to use directly with Push.

Now I just need to find a black faceplate, I have seen a few with black faceplates, so someone is making them!
From what I read the Eurorack has a better processor and/or USB C and that required for the multitrack audio, so I am happy to sacrifice the portability and stick it in my case, plus I can sell my Cosmix mixerâŠ

Yeh, seemed a bit rushed (although he says it worked) but it wouldnât be a deal breaker for me if it didnât work (just a bonus) as long as it works with PC- always better to try these things yourself anyway (and buy from someone with a 30 day return policy!) so I should know by tomorrow for sure! It also says it works with iOS, so maybe cool with my USB C iPad.
Interestedly there donât seem to be many BB Euro around, I could only find one in the UK in stock!

Exact Power Specifications
The module requires two separate power connections (both bus cables are included in the box) and draws from all three power rails:
- +5 V Rail: 500 to 850 mA (extremely power-hungry, depending on screen brightness).
- +12 V Rail: 320 mA.
- -12 V Rail: 82 mA.
850 mA on 5V is super annoying, as most PSUs does not provide that much
You could use an additional PSU (I am using it in my case + 2 desktop versions in different setups).

Audio Parasites definitely had them, but the Mork ones are equally nice (from photos at least). Both great vendors!
Iâm glad I ended up likin the blue accents that goes with a few other blue accents in semi-modular setup. I would be torn between ordering from either one.

I am running Doepfer A-100 cases (x2) & Doepfer A-100LCB (x2) - these have pretty meaty PSUs- I think 4000mA on the 5v rail, hopefully OK!
Just ordered a SanDisk 128GB Extreme PRO SD A2 from Amazon and download the official SD card formatter as that seems to be recommend on Discord.
Ready to go
I took a look at the Mörk panels- very nice but pricey delivery to the UK. I will see how jarring the blue is in currently all black case, see if its worth £50 quid to me to have it all the same!
