appears like a little bit of power is detected on the device without the splitter when that other unit is power ON, but not enough to charge. However does charge it when it’s power is OFF.
This was using a non-high power USB power source. Will experiment if I can find a more powerful USB power block.
mine will be wired in the studio, so eventually the battery is going to run out. Having to unplug everything to charge it isnt a massive deal, but I like to set and forget my gear
Disregarding price, they don’t compare. This is audio memos done right.
Tho if one gets this primarily for that feature, I’d say it should be an essential part of your life and also a big enabler do improve the workflow around it. 1500Euro means business.
I’m a writer by profession, so to me, this is an improvement on my workflow. Combined with its multitracker abilities and its use as a field recorder, it’s silly useful to me.
But if it didn’t tick near all my boxes, I would think twice two times before I got one. Especially for its multitracking. The basics already there are good, but it’s not functionally powerful yet to warrant most people to get one.
Just to say…. I’m loving all these snippets of specs , workflow and use cases. I have zero need for one of these but I the more I follow this thread the greater my appreciation of its existence.
First attempt at a real track where the TP-7 is front and center -
All takes, including field recordings of the rain and wind, were made with the TP-7. The piano is all the same take, but recorded multiple times onto the TP-7 through various Chase Bliss pedals. This was just a collection of ideas and just a basic notion of where the track was going.
After that, all takes were recorded from the TP-7 onto the OP-1 Field’s four tracks for song construction and some additional layering. This is where I actually built the song.
And then, the four OP-1 tracks went back into the TP-7, from where I then multitracked the damn lot through the TX-6 and back onto the OP-1 Field’s vintage reel. This is what I would call the part where I actually mixed and mastered the song.
From there, I made some live tweaks while recording the track onto the OP-1’s Side A album. And that’s it, really.
