Just found out that the TX-6 got major major major updates (since I looked last time) including sync to audio, midi, midi cc, midi clock sync, insert FX etc. and (Edit: no multitrack recording but) record to thumbdrive. I think thats a lot for the price given its inthewoods-ability. Hope the TP-7 will evolve, too and the internal mics are usable and the USB will accept my AKG mic. That would be all 🥸:sunglasses:
I’m prepared to let go of some unportable gear like big Jomox boxes or Akai HDD recorders or 19” Akai samplers or Ensoniq Sampling Keyboards. Well, I realize I’m not prepared , I will just work more I guess or make cuts in food and clothes. Or found a business that needs that sort of equipment to operate properly.
What wig?
Speaking of: I could just borrow the money from my future self. I’m sure he’s better than me and will figure something out… kind of a snowball scheme, I know, but it works for decades already. Sure thing…:
this luxury clothes comparison returns every time but it’s not really on point… there’s not only $10k bags there. there’s lots of brands, so there’s competition also (within the niche). there’s design as a main element, the real content of the product (not so much with equipment)
why no one compares TE to Leica? same great build quality, same ease of use, same lack of functions and similar markets (rich family shooters & enthusiasts who mostly buy it second hand). it’s just Leica has a great history and fabulous optics which TE lacks.
the price is not a problem here imo. the philosophy is. pros pay more for cameras (despite the cheaper stuff gets you there). I’d pay more for Octa mk3 if it was just a perfected version of the original. etc.
AFAIR the discussions around Leica (M cameras and lenses) were more or less the same, except that analogue Leicas don’t lose value when bought used, even if Leica decided to develop newer versions. Nowadays I see M6 Leicas more or less as accessories of sporty men over forty in their vintage Mercedes cabrios. (Yes, plural, all of it - however, state and age of vasectomy in these samples: missing data)
„Cool“ wouldn’t be the category I’d associate vasectomised gym-bodied men over 40 in a vintage Mercedes cabrio with a Leica M6 in the front seat passenger‘s seat with.
And as far as I think I remember I didn’t associate them with TE TP-7, at least I hope so.
And I want to add that I am sure there are plenty different speci-men owning Leica M6. 🫤🙂But those I don’t tend to see in the wild with their Leicas. For whatever reason.
Right now an M6 has probably more attract-opposite-sex-magnet-characteristics than a TP-7. But who knows, 2073?
All I know is: TP-7 ticks a lot of boxes and I want one before Florian has a chance to roast it
Did @Ess have time to write up his thoughts on the TP-7. Would be interesting to hear them as he put it at his fave device at Superbooth in another thread
If anyone’s interested here’s a 7 minute performance where I run TP-7 through TX-6
TP-7 is running at half speed
Tx-6 filter crunching up the recording.
TP-7 multitrack recording from Monomachine and OP-1 Field via TX-6
Track 1:
Two tracks of MNM run through Mood MKii
Track2:
Two tracks of MNm run though CXM 1978
Track3:
Two tracks run through ZOIA EBU with a patch called Lo-Fi box
Track 4:
Arp from OP-1 Field
Track 5:
MNM in Polymode playing random chords run through ZOIA
track 6:
Live track from OP-1 field droning in hold sequencer.
Can you stream a 6 multitrack file from the tp-7 into the tx-6 over usb and then layer over top of that the 6 inputs on the tx-6 at the same time? Obviously each tx-6 fader would both control a stem and a live input if it’s possible?
Can tp-7 play back a multitrack file through usb and still live stream (not record) a sum of its 3 analog inputs through the headphone out?
For a moment today I thought I’d throw the money of my future selves at Ableton for push 3 standalone. Then I realized it doesn’t have arranger mode (which I never use and don’t need, at least not in the box), and that’s when I turned back to TE and their lovely TP-7. But now I realize that the TP-7 is the arranger mode of push 3 (once the USB of it can speak class compliant audio) and I can’t wait for the ADAT interface made of pure platinum and rubies. 🥲:star_struck:
