If nothing else, this has renewed my appreciation of the OP-1 F’s tape tracks. Sometimes I get a bit Octatracky with the OP-1, feeling I should use it all, but a midi keyboard controller with built-in midi-synced tape recorder is pretty rad on its own
@MichaalHell what about projects? How are the recordings marked? Let’s say if you have multiple “projects” you working on?
Only by date and time?
they both do more than a bluebox can but clearly 1010 is your preference
you’re under no obligation to get these field devices
keep the BB
Only date and time
My personal belief?..This same feature is coming to the OP1F someday
You’ll probably be able to plug directly into TX6 and mix the tape tracks with one usb cable connecting them
I’d assume they restrict this to Field products only but kinda wish it would extend to older products enabled with usb audio output (OPZ & OP1). Even if the number of tracks were slimmed down, it would add value to anybody with the legacy equipment
I had a Bluebox. I sold it. Got the TX-6 . I love the TX-6. I multi track record into ipad, or ableton on my mac. But… i’d still love and miss too, multitack recording as implemented on Bluebox.
of course
no argument here cause i’ve wished TX had a multitrack mode since usb recording was added via update
i think the final product will have improvements or a simple firmware change can make the integration of this feature pretty smooth on TP7 (whether used alone or paired w/ TX6)
from where im standing the main missing feature of the tx-6 in this regard is full mp3 playback. common OT dj use case is to load up full songs to static, i dont know that tx-6 is functional on its own in this regard as the tp-7 is. tp-7 can function as a regular mp3 player with the motorized disc for scratching; feed this into one in of your tx-6, and an op-1 field into another, and you have a very capable live set kit. picture it, at a picnic playing some jams, you need a break, just queue up a tp-7 playlist, scratch it casually now and again while enjoying an ice cold beer…
@MichaalHell are we able to connect the TP-7 in disk mode (as with the OP-1F) to transfer files back and forth to IOS or ipadOS devices?
It is possible with the OP-1F because you can switch there between disk and mtp mode
It’s only MTP on the TP-7 so no iOS support as of now… I think they would need a seperate app for that if I’m not mistaken.
I thought OP-1F was MTP only as well, isn’t it?
Thanks!
No the OP-1F does also offer disk mode. You can change that when in the COM menu
Aah shift + 4… got it!
No yeah TP-7 is strictly MTP
feels like a mediocre analogy with cars… luxury market is complex, and it’s also difficult to speak about ‘luxury equipment’. TE carved their own niche.
but take RED (video) as example: this is closer to a luxury car while being equipment. it’s cutting edge tech (mostly), and it’s useable. it’s less luxury than tech. more comparable to a Koenigsegg than TE in any regard. in music, one can think of Neve and other higher-end classic brands.
TE is neither. if I’m pressed to compare it to cars, it might be a Polestar, or even a Hyundai with their latest designed-like-luxury efforts, without much inside to support the claim. it works though. great product for the right target audience. but it aint no Rolls… Nagra is, TE ain’t
Does the TP-7 work with the Tula mic via usb? Or is the TP-7 not able to record via usb?
@MichaalHell would you say the TP-7 mic is closer in quality to the og op-1 or op-1 field?
Definetly closer to OP-1 Field…
I dont know the specifics, but I would almost assume that they have the same mic.
I feel like the more of these TE brings out the more it shows what OP-1 is lacking from the beginning.
Sincere question- what apps/systems are people using to do voice memo to transcription on their smartphones?
