If it do work it is an instant buy for me
I really would like to know if there is any reason why this multitrack recording from the tx-6 should require an extra device? It seems utterly pointless to connect a second device instead of simply recording straight onto the tx-6.

I think Thats a miss print, because the TX-6 is the only way you can enable six tracks on the TP-7
the tx-6 doesnt even have a internal storage so it wouldn’t be possible anyway.
but if you mean multitrack recording to the usb drive, id simply assume that it just wasnt designed to be a multitrack recorder or to have such functions, unless connecting to another device. Most mixers/audio interfaces dont record and are expected to have a separate device for recording, and im guessing that is how TE saw it instead of the TX-6 as an all in one field product.
Im guessing TE planned the field series in advance with 3 mini boxes that have 3 different main use cases with a tiny bit of overlap. While the tx-6 is the most “all in one” type device of the 3, dont think its what they intended for the product.
Yes I mean the usb drive. I also have the tx-6 and I would like to know why it shouldn’t be possible to write the data onto the usb stick. TX-6 is obviously able to send the data through that very same usb port.
Very inconvenient in my opinion to require a second device (not even talking about price). Curious to hear what you guys think @circuitghost @MichaalHell 
I actually also wanted to know if there are any devices you know of out there that actually do that; that you can plug a usb drive and record multitrack audio onto it. I think that would convince me that it was a design choice to not overlap with tp-7 rather then a hardware limitations.
but yeah it seems tx-6 has been designed to only do multitrack connected to another device; be it a phone, laptop or tp-7.
For multitrack recording you always have to connect to a second device anyways… it seems like multitrack recording to thumb stick isn’t a viable solution… but I’m not that knowledgeable in that area, so I don’t really know.

I think this might be related to the limited read/write speed of flash drives for multitrack recording. For example, the A&H Qu mixers also only record a stereo track to a flash drive and require an external hard drive (or computer) for full multitrack recording.

Interesting to know that. Guess it gives some indication it has not been purposely gimped in a Apple type way
It kind of indicates it here (they simply mention it as sending over USB rather then specifically a TX-6 as I guess it can be sent to other things eg DAW)

So now you have to buy the TX-6 and TP-7 to get (some) of the functionality of the Bluebox?

Guess its designed simply for stereo to USB drive or 6 stereo straight into your computer / DAW since it acts as an audio interface.
I do wonder if TE sees the TX-6 as a finished product or more firmware upgrades on the cards.

Yeah well. When the TP-7 was first announced i thought is wasn’t for me. But with the latest news and TX-6 integration i need it 
If we disregard just for a moment, the high price of owning both, I prefer this approach - I tend to enjoy devices with a clear and defined purpose, just doing a few things really well instead of all things not great. I’d rather fusion them together when I need both than carrying around a kit that confuses me with all its options.
At least when the fusion is executed like this. I need no power cables, only one USB cable, the size and portability of the two is great.
Having said that, if the OP-1 Field had streamed four tracks into the TX-6, and the USB stick could play those four tracks into separate channels for mixing, I’d gone for that and left the TP-7 alone.
But I don’t think it’s a trivial challenge, so I’m not expecting either device to become a powerful multi-track porta on its own.
