Teenage Engineering OP-XY

Weird doesn’t work for me with a usb c cable directly between op-xy and monolit, but does work using when I connect them with a computer between them (using midi pipe). I’m talking to light reft about why and a fix. Would be keen to see a video where u have it working.

I almost feel XY has some west coast vibes to sound design on it… quality is certainly there to my ear but yeah it’s not the same sort of deep dive as on an elektron. Elektron stuff still doesn’t really get into the proper mod matrix depth that you expect out of a flagship sound design synth. So I guess it depends on how much is enough for you… I feel like deep sound design in elektrons always had a bit of the dog chasing its tail effect on me, like tweaking one sound leads me down the path of tweaking all the other sounds and then I am back to tweaking the first sound again. So now I tend to reach for a dedicated synth or the modular for more depth in my sound design… maybe knowing I have all that makes it easier to be happy abusing the built in xy engines also.

So… I played around with the XY at Superbooth, and I simply fell in love with it. Can’t stop thinking about it. Is there anyone in/around Berlin who wants to lend me their XY for a couple of days? Or a week. I’m serious.

I’m saving up for buying one, but I’m itching to play with one now.

Anyone? :upside_down_face:

anyone know (maybe at superbooth) if an update enabling exporting the tracks separately to a computer is in the works?

Hi Nauts,
I just released the Cinematic Pads Sound Pack. A unique sound pack for the Teenage Engineering OPXY featuring cinematic, evolving, lush and characterful pad sounds available via my payhip or gumroad page

Cinematic Pads contains 50 multi sampled instruments and as with all of my sound packs all the source wave files are heavily optimized. This enables you to use all 8 multi sample engines of the OPXY with these patches simultaneously without the XY running out of memory resulting in patches not loading.

All Patches are crafted with great care using customised (multi) samples so these are not just simple presets, but custom sounds which you can use for your ambient, cinematic, drone or all other kinds of electronic music.

In below video you can listen to a simple patch play through of the Cinematic Pads sound pack:

The Cinematic Pads Sound Pack is Inspired (but not the same) by my previous ‘OP-1 Field Path’ sound pack which I now also made compatible with the OPXY. So If you previously purchased the Field Path Sound Pack for the OP-1 Field or the complete OP-1 Field Bundle you can re-download the ‘OP-1 Field Path’ Sound Pack for free using your previous receipt and download link and also use the patches of the Field Path Sound Pack on your OPXY!

Thanks for the support and enjoy the sounds!

Don’t know if this has been posted here and I’ve never seen a video from this guy before, but he breaks down 3 really nice features that make the OP-XY special in a calm and relaxing manner:
