Ah I ordered from them but haven’t had a dispatch email yet
If artists could loop phrases on an sp12 back in the day I’m sure it can’t be that bad on the opxy
Yeah I’m definitely holding onto my T-1 while I test drive XY. The most attractive thing to me about the XY is that it has such a flexible happy accident sequencer, like the T-1, but with an integrated 8-track sampler with polyphony for each track. It’s my fault for buying the XY so soon without knowing the final sampling specs. I would have never imagined no resampling with fx and a 20 second sample buffer limit would be a thing at this price point.
Why is it only useful for >160bpm phrases? Isn’t the sample time 20s per key? That would be more than 13 bars (assuming 4 beats per bar) of sample per key.
Mine arrived from Music Matter this morning
you’re right and at 20 second per key, it’s definitely do-able. but do you really want to slice on another device then manually resample to op-xy for each key, when you could just sequence the existing slices? you can still use most of the punch-ins when sequencing another instrument. it’s not like you’re recording any audio tracks to save on op-xy, like you would with an op-1
I tried this, and as others have mentioned, it doesn’t work.
However, it should be possible to use a 3.5mm trs cable to physically loop back the aux out to the input, and sample the input. Because it’s an FX loop, there shouldn’t be any feedback. Not ideal, but as you can (iirc) also send FX1 and FX 2 out the aux send, you should get everything.
In the “coming soon” part of the manual it says: “send audio to and to and from an external effect.”
This was functionality I was depending on, but now I’m not sure if that means we will only be able monitor the return/wet signal and not record it.
It’d be strange to only allow the monitoring of internal fx and not be able to record/resample, but you could record/resample with external fx.
Funnily, this whole XY thing got me interested again in the op-1f… not to the point of buying it unless it’s like 1500 max, but having an op-z the audio tape recording with infinite overdubs is at least more unique. Plus the radio, vocoder, etc. and it has a ‘proper’ keyboard of sorts that doesn’t look like the logitech I use for work…
No excuses. You can buy it for 1290€ in Finland: teenage engineering OP-1 field | Scandinavian Photo
you can do this currently, it’s the “how-to” that is “coming soon”
I wonder what VAT and taxes does to it on the back end…
I don’t think SP ships to the USA
I saw that! So it is now VERY interesting. Worry about customer service though, so far away… couldn’t that be a widespread black Friday deal?
Sorry, I somehow assumed you were from Europe for whatever reason.
Happy you liked it @Prints!
I just resampled my beat and I can hear the delay and reverb. You’re doing something wrong.
I don’t have one yet. was replying to a few folk that mentioned fx weren’t recorded when resampling.
I think they were referring to sampling using the line input?
because then the sample is recorded dry, and fx are put on top after?
