It seems that you are limited to 20(or 30) seconds at the time. So i guess short sequences could be done, but i am guessing that this is not the intendent workflow. I imagine this machine to be used with multisamples, or with snippets of audio, or internal or external synths. This coming from a guy waiting for his xy, so take it with a grain of salt
Makes sense - OPXY not really intended as an ableton ‘freeze track sampler’
I think its usually easier to record first. Using mix in creates issues with levels which are frustrating.
Got it, or do the mixing elsewhere (TE has a tool for that )
I gave in and ordered one. The OP-1 and the Field are the most fun pieces of gear I’ve ever used, but in the end I was always frustrated by the destructive editing and weak sequencers. I tried the OP-Z, but the tiny size and lack of a display/visual overview made it feel claustrophobic and often inscrutable. On paper, the XY is what I’ve always wanted from TE (aside from the cost obv). Fingers crossed that it’s as fun as it looks!
The easiest way is to use velocity step component.
Shift + Lower B key + 0
0 = random velocity
And also make sure that velocity is set to 100 in the synth options.
Shift + Synth button
Can the synth engines reproduce juno and other synthwavey sounds?
also would love to know this - if we could get to Juno territory, I might sell my JU-06 boutique to help fund this!
Are samples AIFF Stereo in 16 bit and 44.1k? Would love to load a bunch of samples but I generally record in Wave do I need to batch convert? Does anyone know what the maximum sample length is that can be loaded?
Ambient with the XY? Generally how long in total minutes could one melancholy drone in song mode?
Plus anyone else feel that this product launch has been some what cold? The few people that received units don’t seem to be pumping out content. Seems odd, thought there would be more hubbub, not counting the monetary complaints, energy feels lethargic, not popping. Or maybe that dark cloud has slowed down reaction/emotion toward the product.
Lots of pressure on the few content creators that have units, and their own brand, not an easy position to be in.
If you slow a BPM to one you can drone on all day.
It’s very expensive!
Will it make me a better musician
It will change your life
Agreed. For that money you’d expect some pretty deep synths. I can’t find any info on the synths on the Teenage Engineering site…
If it inspires you to use it daily, then the answer is yes. This applies to every tool and instrument.
Can you lazy chop? Similar to the ep-133 and Ableton move.
Click pad then click other pads or keys chop it manually?
I’d prefer you don’t, cause if every people do this, it will make this an ugly place. Kind of the equivalent to YTers asking to subscribe on repeat.
The right way would be creating a video with either music or sharing knowledge, and put your link there.
But thank you for asking, it’s appreciated.
Thankyou. That would be a terrible idea affiliate links pfffff.
I completely understand, thanks for answering!
For ambient… much much much better the new Digitone 2.
