i think that’s one miss on the XY… i guess i get it in that the encoders on the z obviously had problems because tons of people had them popping out. but imagine the XY with those flat encoders with the hardware issues resolved!!!
Flat encoders also make it way easier to transport. Even with the op-1. It sounds stupid, but it makes the thickness of the case double.
Damn I want an op-z now
haha, i want an op-z field now!!!
Out to PC, agreed. I thought you meant all internal capability like tracks on OP1 or album.
Well that would be lovely, too But yeah the lesser of the two would do
They were magnets and bearing balls so maybe there was interference with the screen.
Could also be that the z encoders build to much in height and could not lay flat against the surface of the device.
How do the synths compare to the op1f’s synths? Are they of comparable quality?
So no Export like Stems… OOOkkkk… Thank God the OP-Z had someone thinking of Programming a Multi Output for it… and I understand there is no USB-C Out X Channel?
Yes, agree. I think the op-xy is definitely overpriced, but in comparison the tp7 or op-1 are more overpriced.
I’m starting to think that actually the op-z was underpriced, were it not for the doubtful quality in the materials. So if the op-z is 400, then the op-xy with its many (but not radical) improvements should be at 1000-1200, logically speaking, and they’d be selling like hotcakes.
But that’d be adult logic, not teenage logic.
I have to say though that TE devices feel “alive” to me. Like you tell them what to do but they always seem to do a bit on their own, in a musical way. And this is why they’re hard not to love, in a very irrational but fascinating way. That feeling is so rare that they will always find people willing to spend on that dopamine rush, and I understand why.
That’s not logical at all.
They have the OP-1 Field enclosure with double the cpu and more components. How is that going to cost less than the OP-1 Field?
I know, but this xy is a closer relative to the Z than the 1f. But yes, I already said that they’re a bit trapped in their own pricing policy that they themselves established with the revised op1/op1f prices.
day 18 of the thread: somehow 90% of the posts are still about the price, how many nauts will it take to solve the mystery of “why things expensive”
I don’t think it’s so much policy rather the cost of the actual components and RND
You know that they have RnD basically every component in the op-1 Field and OP-XY
That’s insanely expensive. The reason a trs jack is cheap is because the supplier for it churns out millions of them every year which makes it possible for them to push the price down.
It’s the opposite effect when you have low volume offerings like TE has
The cpu is basically the only thing off the shelf
100% agree with this sentiment.
As long as they last a lifetime, no issues or breaking down etc.
I guess time will tell for the OP-XY. TE doesn’t have a great track record in this area though.
I genuinely hope the OP-XY is durable, and the battery is replaceable. If so I’ll get one when the price comes down.
fair enough, those are good points! its cool that the xy has the clickable encoders like the op-1f hardware though…
PO-32 Tonic is one of the greatest devices ever made!
So musical… impossible to make it sound bad.
No FM radio, no deal.
