While the MPC OS fully capable, the music that comes out will generally be more “played in” vs. how the Z (now +xy) navigates you through modulating everything all the time. I find the step sequencer on the MPC as thrown in, and modulation just got improved with 3.0 which is in beta.
You mean like rage bait?
Gabi died in 2020. Wonder who sold the rights to TE
- Robert Görl
- or the record company (Virgin?)?
Edit:
- Is this even DAF?
- my face recognition is not that perfect but
- I wouldn’t have recognized them here
- If true (not DAF) - (buffer overload)
Sequencing is different for sure, but the quality of the synths and fx in the MPC are far better. The MPC offers studio/VST quality synths and FX including an excellent drum synth. You can also add in commercial synths and FX like the excellent OPX4 and if you add in FX like Flex Beat for amazing performance fx (not to mention the XY control touch control like the Korg Kaoss)
What make you think they bought the rights?
Like Kosmonaut, said it’s just an homage aka they copied their musicvideo
Now I see. (See edit above). I had the hunch the faces were unfamiliar so I made a pic search for the originals.
So. That is a bold move. (With optical kind of lookalikes).
I assume the bad German with umlauts that do not exist there and wrong articles (das sequencer instead of der sequencer) are visible for all of you and not a mistake in automatic translation (their web page). That feels strange, too. Either neglect, or provocation and playing with stereotypes at the cost of a subgroup of people.
Bold move indeed.

The TE reimagination (AI?) doesn’t have the main EBM features. Only in the end, the TE sequence comes into that territory but is clearly something else. However, seems all deliberate: they even copied the title of that DAF track (Liebe auf den ersten Blick, only with wrong letters), well … idk what to think of that.
Totally missed that one, thanks for pointing it out ![]()
Can you speed up the tempo of one track so that it plays triplets against the original?
I find it a bit ugly.
It’s too expensive.
Has a fair few limitations.
Not for me.
I find it stunning
The cost will come down in 6 months
Loads of features
GIVE IT TO ME! !
Step component pulse setting 3 and after that step put a jump 8 (align track) to realign the track to the global beat. Triplets.
The beauty and grievance of step components all laid out before us
First of all thank you for participating in the discussion. I’m mainly scrolling to just your posts as you are one of the lucky owners and a beta tester.
Would it be possible that you broke down the track you just posted? Even a private link if you don’t want to post it to your public. I signed up to this forum to ask you for that because that’s exactly the style I’m trying to make. Would be great understanding how it was made from XY perspective. Thanks!!!
Apples and oranges for me. Completely different way of making music on the OP-XY and vastly different form factor. Yeah the MPC has ‘better’ features but I could easily switch on my Mac and Apollo interface and get x10 more stuff.
The OP-Z saves everything in realtime, unless you start it up in manual-save mode with ‘P’+power on (can be toggled when turned on with ‘P’ + ‘track button’.)
You can also save a snapshot of the project with ‘P’ + ‘+’ key combo, then restore with ‘P’ + ‘-‘, although it’s not instant like the Elektron temp save/recall, it pulses the step lights for a short time before performing the save/recall.
And there is the nifty temporary change performance feature where if you hold the ‘Shift’ key while changing any track parameters on the 4 dials, they revert back to their state prior to the ‘Shift’ key being held when you release it. Plus the ‘Shift’+keyboard keys trigger the punch-in effects temporarily for just the currently selected track.
I’m not sure if these last two features made it over to XY? Be a shame if it had less performance tricks than Z.
Totally forgot that thanks for the reminder!
So I can run my mixer output into OP-XY and use the punch-in FX and more? If so , I might buy it just for that ![]()
If not this is a deal breaker
Firmware is your friend. There will be huge updates and this is easily fixed in firmware.
you could… but it would not be as streamlined as OT since you have to manually press record on a sample engine
So I got the OP-XY yesterday. Couldn’t resist it
And I’ve allready spent more time with this than DTII which I also got on launch day. Price aside, I think this is brilliant!
But I can’t really figure out how to do the quantized looping? Could you briefly explain how this is done?
Couldn’t agree more- I can switch on my iPad with Drambo/Note/AUM and even Logic etc far more different step sequencers and synths (AU, DAW quality) than the XY and MPC…very portable, great battery, built in speaker…its all anyone needs really, but we are like our ‘hardware’ as well for whatever reason!
