Agree with this. You have to be in another tax bracket where picking this up doesn’t really make a dent. It’s an irresponsible purchase. I think the weird thing is even if was half the cost, it’s still expensive. My hope is that TE doesn’t raise the bar for other manufacturers. The OP-1 field was already out of my league, and the XY is no different. I’m at least glad I had my OG OP1 days and I remember them fondly.
I wonder how long TE have had this in development?
2 years from start?
word is that is always more than 12 and less than 2

this is probably a silly question, but I’m assuming it’s possible to sync the op-1f with the op-xy? For example, press play on one and they both start playing, etc?
I’m sure it’s possible over USB if nothing else.
But will the case bend and warp like the original OP-Z??? I think buyers of the OP-Z should get a 500 dollar/euro discount on OP-XY at least…
Does it support stereo samples?
Thanks.
There will always be people who buy OP-XY and don’t enjoy it, or can’t afford to keep it. The used market will open up. You can always get one in the future. And the OP-1 Field is nothing like OP-XY, I love the Field but don’t enjoy the OP-Z. If you want OP-XY workflow, much of that can be accessed with an OP-Z for a lot less $. Congrats on making the sensible choice for you for now
When OP-1f came out I’d come into some money. Currently I couldn’t actually buy an OP-XY, not possible - but that’s ok. I’ve watched all the videos and it doesn’t really excite me anyway. I’m also really enjoying the MK1 Analog Four I recently got (my first bit of Elektron gear) for 1/5 of the price of the OP-XY. That’s enough pattern sequencing goodness for me for now
you probably know this already but if not, the organelles have this.
could be a more affordable alt if thats a feature you need.
My internal GAS dialogue is shit. Now I’m scheming to buy this. Might be my only gear purchase for the whole of next year. Let’s see.
Does the multi sampler allow for any sort of round robin or velocity depth also? Would be cool to see that to add variation… but having multi sampler is already a great feature for bringing sounds out of the studio.
and does it have automatic sample key detection?
Also, the lack of control over drum tracks is pretty ridiculous.
No control over filtering or envelopes for individual sample slots?
Hey, thanks to @MichaalHell for being so informative about the specs! Quick question - how many notes of polyphony can be sequenced per external MIDI track?
And - do you know if per-drum-sound envelope/filter controls are on the road map? I agree with everyone, that’s the final HUGE oversight to me - other than that this thing looks awesome!
Thanks for answering all the questions.
Would assume so, main product page says-
“STEREO SIGNAL PATH”
OP-1 Field supports stereo ad well.
Possible a new OP-1 is coming? ![]()
You mean like stacking samples based on velocity level. Sadly it does not. That would have been really cool though
It’s not any roadmap I know of but I will take add that as a feature request and see if it’s possible
Kind of hard to tell if it’s transmitting every key press, but I punched in 24 notes and it seems like it’s sending that.
Hi Michaal, thanks for your insights so far! Would you know whether the OP XY supports Bluetooth midi? I use it extensively on my OP1F as a quick way to connect to my other devices and DAW.
Thanks!
MI was just an example. I know it’s not going to happen, but something akin to logue SDK would be cool.
