uh, changing my mind again.

can’t justify the cost with current financial situation (baby human on the horizon, recent home and vehicle purchase). I think it would be irresponsible to drop this kinda of $ on a hobby. I got a great deal on an op-1f locally ($1,200) so i’m going to stick with that as my only piece of gear beyond a midi keyboard + ipad.

I think I can just play with op-1f and logic for ipad and try to let go of these feelings.
I suspect a lot of folks are in different financial situations than they were when op-1f was released, so I’m curious to know if global financial tightening impacts sales of something like this, or if the average buyers aren’t really affected by all that ‘recession’ stuff

Once on a plane, and probably the only time I ever did it, I got my OG OP1 out - it was quite a few years ago. Spent a good hour lost in a bit of fun.

At the end of the flight a more elderly couple sitting a few seats away, maybe 20 or more years older than me (so well into their twilight years) asked what was that thing and what was I doing and I told them. They praised me for it - to paraphrase their comments and observations at the latter part of their lives: those to be embarrassed were the other passengers, who had a license to down tools for a few hours, were still glued to their spreadsheets and powerpoints, or hung up on not looking like sane adults…

That said, I don’t think I’d whip out my ZOOM Arq in a public place or anything that looked remotely like a drum machine. M8, most TE and possibly the 1010 boxes are nicely compact and could just be a sudoku game or weird organiser within the realms of respectability.

OP-XY is going all-in on the inconspicuous business traveller.

now you’re on to something!

i guess it’s the teenage part, but they could carve out a new niche on the other side of adolescental stylings

@MichaalHell - so far no one has talked about the Choplifter game equivalent on the XY…

how many lfos does the op-nonce have?

I don’t use it that often, but it’s pretty cool.
You can link tracks on the OP-Z as well but it’s expanded on XY. A linked track follows the sequence of the track it’s linked to (the op-z could only live play linked tracks)

In this example I have one track which is just chord, then I have two tracks with an arpeggio each and then one drum track with an arpeggio all linked to that chord track.

Then I create a chord progression by making a pattern on the brain track.

Same. I love the OP-1F, but the OP-Z is the one I’d keep if I could only keep one. The OP-1F is great for writing, but for performance you have to deal with a lot more limitations than I prefer. Seem some great live sets with just the OP-1, don’t get me wrong. But the Z just has so much more performance functionality at its core, and that’s how I tend to use it.

Man I’m excited for the XY, wish TE would let us know when it’s going to ship!

I love how on the first day of a T.E. release all of the lawyers respond with law suits
and then on the second day all of the grief counselors help us through managing to purchase the thing we were suing about yesterday

Yes it’s possible, you have to make sure it’s sequenced though as you can’t live play and sample at the same time.

I can’t wait for your review. They’re so interesting to watch.

No shoplifter game 🥲
Don’t know if they have added another Easter egg

Agreed, this is way more flexible and easier to use. The OP-1 drum chain app was easy enough to use, but it would be nice to not deal with that step (and using the computer) anymore.

What is the background on this? It’s perfect.

Is this the ultimate groovebox? Portable sampler sequencer with great effects and synth engines.

I’m slacking lately I know. I still have to do one for the Digitakt 2, Minifreak, Pluto, sigh…

I’ll definitely do one for the XY, but like all my videos I could care less about being early with reviews and more about waiting til I feel I have a VERY solid grasp of how everything works in use. Be patient

They make M4L devices for Ableton Live, and have a particularly funny sense of humor.

Its a Teenage Engineering thing. It’s a gimmick to show you are rich. Like an expensive handbag or something. I’m okay with this, don’t need that.
