No special preps. Drop a file to a slot, SHIFT+SOUND → SND, → KEY, press and hold SHIFT+SOUND for 3 sec until SAV blinks, press SOUND, press KEYS, done. Play looped Single Cycle Waveform on pads (press KEYS and + or - for an octave switch). As simple as that. I’ve loaded all 100 of #400 slots with the SCW’s for bass, all 100 of #700 for basic waves, and all 100 of #900 for stereo SCW’s. Works great! And takes just ~2mb of memory only.

Exchange it for another one, might be a lemon…

been doing this since forever on OG KOII with the only difference I turn volume of the pad all the way down - don’t record silence save space and use what’s already on

Amazing thanks I’ll try that :+1:

oh I’m in it by golly, I’m knee deep in it, I’m up to my neck in it heck if I didn’t have this piece of bamboo I wouldn’t even be able to breath right now that’s how deep I’m in it buddy… but I just don’t know what ā€˜it’ is yet

After first chucking my cat across the room at the wall a few times (just kidding no cat, just a very heavy dog), I did a little assessment and I believe I was getting weirdness having the web app open and connected while jamming and especially scrolling through all the new bass sounds I had just loaded and resaved with proper envelope and legato settings.

I slowed down with my actions while still plugged in to my Mac and got a few more crashes but far less frequent. Once I had done enough bass design and loading them up, I disconnected usbC and my experience was smooth.

I plan on another session this evening and will try to replicate it with the connected-to-app while jamming way to see if it acts up again. No work or samples lost, just quick annoying reboots.

Wish me luck and I will look into returning it if it’s whacky. But loving the EP as a non-main brain alongside my MPC and will be taking it on a four day family visit/work trip this week.

ā€˜It’ is elusive but luckily we all know it when we see it.
I figured you would get rid of the OG EP and keep a new version with the whopping 128mb memory.

Plus it’s got a Ting. Will be testing my Ting with my MicroFreak hopefully later this evening.

I’ll tickle all the boxes with this…

CULTURAL APPROPRIATED
MPC RING THE ALARM SAMPLED
DANCEHALL VOX MICROFREAK
TING SING STEPPERS
70’s BLOCK PARTY DUBPLATE

let us know how that works out, the microfreak might be going on the chopping block

i migth have the wrong expectations but here’s what’s twatting me up at the moment is :

fader recording and scenes and patterns and groups and what changes what and expectation when loading scene.
i experienced some volume jumps when changing scenes, maybe as i recorded volume but not sure.
don’t want to clear all fader recording in case it removes all, or just active group?
at one point i reset the fader and it set everything to default on a group then wouldn’t set again.

i’m loving this device for interaction. but just need sanity check on waht to expect when loading scenes + virtual fader positions, still get caught out and lose parameter positions i’ve set. what have I not acknowledged yet in the workflow.

8 data error crashes today.

Good tip. There is a sample of some tape hiss in the factory library. I used that for my experiment, but a silent (0% volume) pad would be better. Thanks!

Oh wow, surprise to all!

Normally, the fader positions apply to the entire project. If you want to record fader positions into a scene, stop the sequence at 1:1:1, then move the fader while holding the Rec button to record the values. This automation does not change the fader values in the project, so when you move to a different scene, the original values are restored.

Just got mine! Did not expect this, but just realized the microphone is the ultimate noise music mic with the built in FX.

Best tip yet, thanks! I was trying to record a stable position during play like a fool, probably causing all kinds of unexpectedness.

Maybe old news but I realised yesterday you can latch punch in fx by keeping them held after releasing fx, freeing up a hand to play the remaining pads etc.
same for solo.

Need all these undocumented tips and tricks collated somewhere.

Nice one! A collection of these would be great.

practice makes perfect guys, gatekeeping those

I noticed switching scenes can persist the last recorded fader movement which can be interesting.
Should then need a fader reset or will reset on the 1 beat?. Still working this out.

In a way there’s nice unexpected elements of performance combos that when married with your precise scene settings (hopefully) results in a dream mix of expected and (sometimes good sometimes shite) surprises, which reminds me of machinedrum.

Hey! I’m trying to work out how to set up samples that loop until I let go of a note and can play chromatically in keys mode on the EP-40 Riddim. There are some factory presets that appear to be samples that you can hold continuously so I’m sure it’s possible but when I try to set up my own samples I can’t seem to be able to find an option to do this and the sample just ends.

Don’t suppose anyone could point me in the right direction please? Cheers!
