Thereās microtiming. You can nudge steps manually, and/ or record without quantisation.
Parameter locking is different. Not per step like Elektron, but continuous with the fader. You can record all the parameters you can read on the pads (level, pitch, time, lpf, hpf, fx send etc) as continuous automation with the fader. Press fader + a pad to charge the fader with the desired parameter. Press rec+play and record a fader movement into the sequencer. And itās there.
Things I didnāt mention in the video, that might be of interest.
ā¢ Undo (yeah!) ((itās the umbrella symbol))
ā¢ Copy paste sounds between pads, and bars in the sequencer.
ā¢ Set time signatures per scene: 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 2/2, 2/4, 2/8, 3/2, 3/4, 3/8, 4/4, 4/8, 5/4, 5/8, 6/4, 6/8, 7/8, 8/8, 9/8. So a project can change between time signatures.
ā¢ 12 mono or 6 stereo and logical voice counting between mono and stereo. 10 mono 1 stereo etc.
ā¢ Set pad velocity to OFF, HIGH, LOW in the system menu.
ā¢ Set sequencer scene change to TIC or BAR, meaning instant scene changes, or queue after a bar has finished.
ā¢ Type in scene change with MAIN+type.
ā¢ Thereās a nice web MIDI app for managing samples.
ā¢ Device backup is currently very rudimentary and slow, but works. Full device backup in one file over web MIDI app.
ā¢ Offset a noteās timing (microtiming) with shift+pad+(Ā±)
ā¢ Boot it in safe write protected mode by holding MAIN during bootup.
ā¢ Record fader automation PER LAYER. All 12 parameters in a layer are individual fader lanes for automation. I suspect internally itās probably like CC automation. Press rec+move fader for punching in fader automation.
ā¢ Erase all fader automation with ERASE + FADER. But currently itās a little but unclear to what value it resets to. Maybe a bug.
ā¢ Sync and MIDI I/O are spaced wide enough for many, but not all cables. Itās tight, but not TX-6 tight.
ā¢ A sample is polyphonic when pad is set to KEY playback mode. Especially good for playing tones with MIDI keyboard.
ā¢ 1000 sound slots for sample storage. Or is it 999?
Ah there is more, but itās whatās at the top of my head.

Does this mean that I can record automation to the send effect or sample parameters for a specific pad or is it per group? Is it possible to delete recorded automation besides using undo?

Is the sync and midi io sockets wide enough for non-TE cables or is it like in the TX-6 mixer?

Ah at last Iāve found something to repair the gas leak.
I think Iāll give it a miss for those reasons.

I donāt understand why everyone is acting like thereās some kind of shortage of these things. I still see these in stock at multiple places. I actually managed to weasel a discount on one too.
Yeah TE seemingly sold out their stock, but they sent out stock to stores from day one. So it should be available, but you might have to look.

Yeah, quick look showed Turnlab in Belgium and Guitar Center still have stock
Is it possible to export samples from the backup tool?
I would love to sample stuff from records and export wavs to use in a DAW for example.
With the EP Sample Tool you can copy samples to and from the device. Yes.

Some other goodies:
- itās 96 ppq and nudging is placed on these ticks
- SHIFT + fader = finer resolution
- editing note length is possible but for the STEP, not notes
- editing velocity: possible per step, and for each note (with octopus key combo)

I like the boot in write protected mode. Pass it off to a friend to jam without fear of a project being ruined. Nice feature

Can anyone confirm that Lego parts would fit the knobs? That would be so nice. I have a lot of Lego. And what about the Batterie compartment this also looks kind of Lego compatibleā¦?

Given that thereās no sample looping or reverse or resampling, do you think there are enough parameters on this thing for extensive sound design with samples? What other sampler would you pair with it if you think it comes up short?

I really love this looping style that we see here, do you guys know other samplers that do this thing of sliding inside the loop and shortening/lengthening ?

It look like there are very limited options for sound design. The FX apply to the entire layer, which is 12 samples, so almost useless in that regard. And without resampling you canāt bake FX into an individual sound.
Unless there are some per-sample FX I missed?
