Teenage Engineering EP-133 K.O. II

If TE keeps scaling things up, then in about 5 years we should see a Lego recreation of the MPC3000 that is battery powered, and has some crazy 3D graphics. I’ve already preordered.

I ordered from Guitar Center yesterday and received a UPS tracking number three hours later. They still show as being in stock:

So who’s going to be the first to open this thing up and see what’s inside :smiling_imp:

And release the magic? I’m not about to open mine up when I receive it just to release the magic spirit out so that it can escape and live in my neighbors elliptical trainer. That magic is mine. It don’t care if my neighbor is training for a Quadrathlon or not. That magic is mine.

At check out it it would have said ‘ships within 5-7 days’ for first batch. Second batch it says ‘ships within 30 days’. And now it says ‘sold out’

I recently bought a new device and devoted lots of time to learning it. At the end of all that time spent, I was unhappy with the sound of the recordings. I make canned music for my students, primarily on the Digitone. I love the DN’s sound. But this new, unnamed device wasn’t producing a sound that affected me like the DN’s.

I enjoyed the process of using the new device, and I learned a lot about sound design and compositional technique. Adopting its novel workflow made my brain hurt (in a good way). I know I can still improve the sound of the thing. But how much?

My point is: At the end of the day, I am concerned with the “sound” of my recordings. I want my canned music to sound good for the person playing along. Even better, I want that person to think they are sounding good while playing along. And they don’t care about the process/device I used to make the music.

Some of the music I made on the aforementioned new device had a really cool, low-fi, video-gamey sound to it through my headphones. But low-fi did not sound good in the classroom with kids playing along. So, I returned to my beloved Digitone and am continuing to make tracks on it (though I struggle to get the desired polished stainless steel sound out of my black, OG DN).

While there is so much gushing about the vibe, the workflow, the limitations, etc., of [insert latest device here], I am wondering to what extent the sound of a device, for others on this forum, keeps it in use, rather than gathering dust.

Can anyone tell me how many pads I can send out as midi to my external gear. Is it just one pad per group or can I send out Midi, even with polyphony, on three or four pads in one group, etc.

currently the usb is for power, midi, and date transfer.

Is it possible they will implement live audio streaming like the op-1 in the future, or is that hardware limitation?

manual says 12 pads each with own midi channel and sequence. Doesn’t state if it is 12 pads per group or not. Also the manual states you have to option of having a sample on the pad as well as sending midi, or it can be midi only.

really hope this can be implemented. it would make integration with my ipad possible and really make this machine a beast.

You have 9 project slots and each project has 4x12 sample slots

To me, the strength is the sequencer, and to some extent the portability. I think that if you don’t like these old school step sequencers, you might want to pass.

So I got one incoming now.

I found one at a sneaker store - I was really there for a totally different reason, but I couldn’t help laughing about it. Sold out. Everywhere. In the world. But enter a sneaker store, and sure enough, they got a sampler from Teenage Engineering.

That’s just so on brand, I had to go for it.

I was thinking of opening mine too when it arrives

That screwdriver icon is so inviting.

You live in Sweden, right?
They probably went and dropped boxes of the product throughout the city

Yeah, I think it’s a Stockholm store, so wouldn’t surprise me if they’re just close or just really like each other.

Having said that, a couple of fashion boutiques in Gothenburg (where I live) carry TE stuff as well. There’s this one guy who has like 10sqm of space, and he sells only very carefully selected items that he really likes. And there’s no coherence on what he sells, but there’s def coherence in style.

So he sells like four magazines - Vanity Fair, Edge and two more I can’t remember. He sells bags, but only from a Danish brand you’ve never heard off. He sells gloves, from Hestra (which is a ski resort in Sweden known for almost never having snow these days and for making great gloves since before Christ (in fact, Christ came to visit once and he was like, I’m gonna wear these when I go see Lazarus)). And he carries TE stuff, but only the PO:s.

So it kind of makes sense  I. have a feeling I picked up the only one they have, though.
