Teenage Engineering EP-133 K.O. II

Out of curiosity did you do a factory reset when first getting the unit or since?

I’ve been debating on doing that with my unit vs just deleting the samples on the unit from the app but I don’t know if it might be a bad thing to do the reset. The more I use this the more I feel the CPU is already maxed. When navigating with loaded scenes and patterns there can be a noticeable lag. It would be interesting if this actually can do what it says it can on paper…

Hopefully it is just some QOL to get it more stable but there is no way the beta testers did not come across these issues. I get hardware but some of the software bugs are pretty glaring. How they weren’t addressed before roll out is definitely questionable. Makes me sad because this is such a nice piece. This roll out has been pretty bad.

i had a forced factory reset done randomly where i lost all my work like 8 hours in but never did one manually. and now i got enough stuff on it that i dont want to. perhaps the forced one will happen again soon and then if it does i will perform a manual one as im not sure if there is a difference.

my device is loaded up to 45mb or so and i have not noticed any stuttering and im doing so fairly heavy sequencing and automation. i notice bugs but not much stuttering nor chugging. but idk im not automating like all 12 faders at once right now. i’m guessing that will break it lol.

@vek replied as well and has a better way:

“what you do is enter timing correction mode , set swing value, then hold the pad you want to affect as the pattern plays. you do not need to hold record.”

Yeah I just had to very slightly tighten the screws on the back behind the speaker and it started to work, still seems to be working fine since.

Spent a few hours with the thing, it’s fun, basic yet open and it sounds great.

As stated, mine arrived with the screen half off, so if I’m going to talk about build/shipping quality I’ll start with that.

Otherwise, if I’m going to be totally honest, if it weren’t for all the reports of the fader/speaker, I would not feel the need to baby it. I think it feels sturdy … maybe it’s just me.

As it stands, I bubble wrap it everywhere I take it in my bag … loads of fun … hassle to be worried about.

The KO 2 situation is getting a bit weird to be honest. Sounds like people are excited for broken parts now

Thinking about something like this for a case

Maybe throw it in a sleeve before putting it in there or whatever other padding/shirt/towel i have around the house

Except mine is not broken and i try to protect it for travelling. Something i would do for any equipment.

Someone working at a vendor confirmed some numbers for me: out of 100 units sold from the first batch, 3 had reported issues, 1 broken fader, one broken speaker and one didn’t turn on at all. It’s better than what I expected, but some customers probably didn’t report issues and tried to fix it themselves.

I’m not sure I’d trust that person judging from this thread!

Ok Roland

I think I ran into this today too, had to delete the project.

Considering that they ship to vendors in boxes of 8 units (what they call the master carton box here), that means that at least one of 8 units might have an issue, if not more. Then from the vendor to the customer, there’s another chance of breaking something it it’s not properly packed.

ya actually loving the project so i’m screwed lol. guess this track is only gonna use 3 groups…oh well…50% chance the device wipes itself anyways before i record so nbd

How anyone thought that the box it ships in would protect the hardware is just wild. I get the notion of being ‘green’ but this lacked total common sense imho.
