Sometimes mine doesn’t play the whole sample and I’m not sure why either. It like fades out early and I can’t seem to figure it out.
yup. seems like a bug. anyone else dealing with the velocity bug? basically velocity just won’t show up for a given step. bugs out and basically you lose the ability to adjust velocity. not sure how to get it back. still seems to be available for other steps for the pad.
also i was pretty tired last night but im pretty sure half my project samples (assigned to pads and sequenced) got wiped? anyone else experience like random pads and their steps being completely wiped upon turning your on your machine.
Does anyone know how to copy a single pad’s sequencer notes onto a different pad? Like to have two pads playing the same thing but with different sounds.
I believe the Copy function toggles with multiple presses. Not in front of the device right now. I can’t remember what options it give you. But press it a couple times to see the Display change.
99% sure this is not possible but this is a must have. have not found a way.
sound copy/paste toggles between pad or group and that is to paste a sound or whole group (each sound) but no triggers. trigger copy/paste toggles between bar and pattern , but that is only for duplicating the same triggers on the same pads for the entire group, not to copy a pads triggers to another pad.
Does holding a Note/Pad and pressing the Copy function do anything?
it changes group C’s pattern for the given scene (which can be really confusing if you don’t realize what it’s doing). basically anytime you hold a group and select pads, you are now using the pads to type in the groups pattern number to select for the scene. so no it’s not a copy/paste command.
On the one hand I really appreciate TE David being on this forum. On the other hand it really annoys me that he avoids any clarity about the fader issue. I think it’s more than obvious that it is a quality control problem if not even worse a production problem if you look at B&H and Thomann statements or actions. And I think it is really poor customer care of TE to not offer any kind of Replacement as soon as the issue is resolved or a preferred purchase right. Not to mention a small apology. After all, Christmas is just around the corner, and there’s a good chance that the money for the device might be tied up in a return process until after Christmas.

here is a video on oneshot being completely broken. i found that device reset resolves it but it breaks almost immediately after. can’t even use a loop in some cases.
in the video i have it set to oneshot when i start the video. it plays a short clip. note that i did not demonstrate the same behavior when sequencing it instead of pressing the pad but it was in fact doing the same thing in the sequence.
i then toggle the play mode to try to fix it and it still plays a short clip. i then reset the device and it finally plays the whole loop. this is the only sound in the project. it’s a brand new project. i basically can’t make a beat because of this.
Oh that’s right. Thanks.
I thought I’m doing something wrong. I had a guitar loop.
check my video two posts above it demonstrates it. if it was intended i don’t think a device reset would change the behavior.
I am so happy I didn’t order one during release, although GAS was quite heavy during these first days. Now, I will wait and see if everything gets fixed, but given how TE is completely silent about this, I think it might not happen anytime soon (or worse, if ever). Remember how they neglected the Bendgate thing?
Same here, strangely I found that in order to play one shot samples full length all the time, I use the “key” mode (the next option from that same internal menu, not the [keys] button) at full release.
Still in doubt about getting this… do I really need it?
To try and balance out the 404mk2/ep-133 debate above: I am a huge fan of both the older 404 models and the ko-33, they’re portable, fun, and just the right balance between functions and limitations. The new ones do seem to gain functionality but lose some of the fun?
The 404mk2 is amazing but lost some of its appeal to me by becoming really (too?) complex for a portable fun machine. The thing that worries me about the ep-113 is mainly that it looks like a fragile, leave on your desk kind of machine. If I’m sitting behind my desk I have bigger, ‘better’ machines to work on. Is the ep-133 fit to take an lie on the couch with? I took my ko-33 everywhere, this new one looks kinda brittle. How does this feel to the people who got theirs?
feels like the dream couch machine for me. lol. been using it on my couch for 3 days straight it’s nice to get out of the studio a little. it doesn’t feel brittle at all despite the fader issue. i mean same rules apply as any electronic from a phone to a calculator meaning don’t drop it on cement from 6 feet but yeah…
the 404 feels like a whale compared to this in terms of portability. like this is the most portable music device i’ve ever used aside from a volca. battery life is nuts.
Is the EP portable? Yes. Do I want to move it around a lot? Not really.
It lives on my desk. It is a big pocket operator though, so it introduces a lot of fun to the set-up.
I personally feel more comfortable moving an SP around.
FWIW I found the mk2 lost a lot of appeal for me compared to the old SPs. As opposed to coming from the KO-33, I think te really nailed it with this bigger version.
You definitely don’t!
The more I use the KOii, the more I love my SP404mk2. Don’t get me wrong, the KOii is an awesome box with an awesome design (it’s the main selling point to me), but its definitely not a must-have from a functionality point-of-view.
No resampling, no Fx per Pad, (severly) limited sampling time…
Main draws are the form & portability factor, awesome battery time, performance FX, built-in mic & speaker (for immediacy) and the sound quality is also great - all at a pretty decent price.
I’m really glad I own one but it DEFINITELY is not a must have / NEED to have.
The SP404mk2 argueably is the better deal, going for as low as 399€ around here an offering a lot more bang for buck in terms of functionality.
Not to put anyone off of buying a KOii, it’s a lovely device and I’m glad I have one, but it’s not like it can do things no other sampler can.
