definitely dont want filter per pad if it eats voices.
glad to know the hardware limitations. hoping it stops asinine feature request, but it wont.

The main feature i would like to see for my workflow is two ways audio over USB C
i donāt intend to use the machine to finish anything inside of it but def as inspiration kickstarter something to lets say load up initial elements and go on a field day to see if catch the essence of a song or project that i will ultimately be finishing on a daw with all my other resources.
USB audio capture and transfer like its possible to do on the 404mk2 would be fantastic for this
imagine just browsing youtube on any device and suddenly you are prompted to sample something⦠do it quick and easy with just 1 data cable, flip and mangle and then drop the stems in sync to your daw, cooking all the punch effects you want just perfoming with it into your daw in sync , no interface needed just your other device wether laptop, ipad, another op-1 etcā¦
I think if this is implemented this will go with me everywhere and become the go to tool
i feel because of portability, battery etc its meant to become. @te-david
Donāt know how a flagship would make it menu diving by adding a more powerful cpu for sampling while the sequencer is running, is that menu diving? More powerful cpu means more powerful QOL updates into the future. Nor did I ask for an 8 inch screen. I actually didnāt know the op-1 screen was 8 inches. Huh. Interesting.
I donāt think you really read what I wrote. Or understand.
But the fact is the cpu they used for this machine is not going to allow those QOL updates everyone thinks they are getting. And thatās fine with me. Iām still using this machine.
Also. This has just as many street fighter combos as the 404. They have combos on here where you tap shift hold this button then the button you want. Street fighter anyone. And the more QOL you want will just add to it. That is if the cpu can handle it.
To each their own, but objectively this seems to be a strange reaction to receiving new gear that is broken.
i have pretty big hands and i gotta say the combo on the 133 to change the duration of a note in the sequencer is quite a stretch for me
I doubt many if any QOL updates.
hallelujah

it would be a great feature!
me too!
Yeah Iāve been struggling with samples being truncated in some really strange ways. Someone above mentioned their struggles with voice stealing and so I think thatās whatās happening here.
Iām not ever keeping track of how many voices Iām using and rarely pay attention to whether the samples Iām using are mono or stereo, so I have a feeling thatās whatās going on.
Iām not happy about it, but what is the point venting on the internet? I have a support ticket submitted.
Fair point.
I only mention it because itās fascinating to see so many people just lol at receiving broken gear.
the voice stealing is definitely a thing but the playback mode is definitely also causing issues on its own.
i know that because if you stop the sequencer and try to play a longer sample back solo on its own it will still get the Oneshot playback wrong until i mess around with it. basically it will just play a small portion of it instead of playing the whole sample.
add in wonky and inconsistent voice stealing on top of that and you got a real mess.
sidenote: honestly canāt really fathom how they didnāt fix oneshot playback before releasing the device? i encountered it like 10 times in a few hours last night. iād guess testers and TE engineers themselves must have experienced it hundreds and thousands of times but somehow didnāt prioritize it. it is an extremely glaring issue on a sampler lol. playing back samples at a basic level is sort of important.
TE is like, āoh, weāre gonna give you happy accidents whether you like it or not, capeesh?ā
sample based house is my favorite kind of house this is great!
I wonder if the voice stealing is prioritized with layer A taking highest priority. The voice stealing seem to work quite well when you use the recommended layer setup from the manual.
So someone said that the many reports on here might not be representative for the whole customer base that is outside this forum. Well here are the reviews from Thomann (one of the biggest sellers in Germany), were nearly every one of them mentions a hardware fault (2.8 of 5 stars rating):
the EP-133 with the SP-404 MKII has been such a fun combination to play together.
When I learned that resampling wasnāt available (and it took me a while since this wasnāt addressed in the first videos), I immediately thought that this machine had been either made really cheap and really quick or designed by DJs and/or synth gear heads.*
Cause you just canāt overlook resampling when you pay hommage to the first MPCs. The fader, despite its issues, was the main hint for me. Only people loving synths and having too less experience with samplers would have the fantastically crazy idea to put a fader on a sampler.
Actually this is not correct at all.
If putting a fader on a sampler is a āfantastically crazy ideaā Akai is doing it for nearly 40 years.
The fader (the ānote variaton sliderā) is present in the MPCs present since the first Akai MPC 60 (1988) and is a relevant aspect of the sampler workflow. Everybody that effectively uses an MPC knows that pitch adjustment with the note variaton slider is super smooth and utilitarian, for example. Indeed, the MPC 2500 (my actual machine) have two sliders. Even the humble MPC 500 have a fader. It is true that the new MPCs donĀ“t have faders, but ALL the OG ones have them.
So it actually shows a lot of experience with samplers by the designers and IMO is a quite smart solution - and fader ridding in real time is super cool.
