Decksavers! Way (too ) expensive but waaayy less expensive than shipping to Sweden for encoder repairs. Buy them once, get all the bitching and moaning about the outrageous price for a piece of molded plastic out of your system at that time…and then enjoy years of (relatively) worry-free synth transportation.
Also, if the an airline every tries to pull that shit where they try to make me put my carry-on into baggage at the last minute, the simple answer is: Batteries. “The bag contains LiPo batteries.”
'Nuff said. Anything with LiPo or LiOn , LiFe, etc batteries MUST go in the cabin.
Carry bag and deck saver, then carry on. I’ve done it loads, it’s fine. Always wanted to snag a sneaky pic of OT on the conveyor, but didn’t fancy the cavity search that would have ensued.
I’m moving across the country in March (West to East coast) and have an Octatrack and Digitone i want to bring. I have cases for each of them and I intend to pack both cases into a duffel bag with some extra padding and such in it and taking it carry on. I have never flown with one, let alone both, of these devices and I’m seriously worried they’re going to be pissed off at me for even thinking about trying something like that. Would it be best if I just pack one this time and get the second one sometime when I visit, or will there be no issue here? Are they at all TSA compliant?
Edit: I should specify that I’m American and have heard we have an abysmal airport security system when compared to other countries. If that changes anything.
Hi, there are a couple of threads with similar content, here’s one:
You can find others by searching like air travel or similar. General consensus is that it’s fine as long as you aren’t Wile e coyote or something. Hope it goes well!
I went to Iceland from the Netherlands and back with an OP-1, SP404mk2 and a powerbank.
They only checked if the powerbank wasn’t a bomb. For the rest no problems.
On the way back they didn’t check anything.
I took it with me in the handlugage
I’ve thought about that. I’m not opposed if I absolutely have to, but it would feel safest to have them on my person in a carry on so I can be confident I know where they are at all times. But it is absolutely on my radar to do it that way.
Yeah lol. I don’t even have a battery for them so it seems like I may have a leg up over some others who have flown. I’m glad you sent this to me I couldn’t find anything when I looked.
I have flown numerous times with a guitar, an octatrack, a digitone, a microcosm, a power bank, adapters and cables with me as hand luggage. Should be fine
