Hey guys!!!
Here is the FIRST tutorial using the automation mode! This really is next level hope you guys have a chance to see this! For this video I decided to go and show an improvised way to explore from a SINGLE synth init clip and a SINGLE kit clip and go nuts with it!
Got my unit
Only fumbled through making a drum pattern and trying out synth sounds but first impressions are positive. Much smaller than expect - very good.
I don’t want to ignorantly start asking simple questions but is there no demo songs/projects? No samples or ‘factory content’ on the card? Just the synth engine and drum kits?
Much to learn but I feel enthusiastic towards it over the other boxes I have tried.
the Boards of Deluge sound packs (which most new Delugers generally add if they’re looking for additional patches beyond the factory content) have some demo tracks i believe
My secret wish is to have automation for mapped MIDI CCs of golden knobs in MIDI clips. But I assume it’s unrealistic as this could overload the MIDI OUT buffer so easily.
And my Deluge is consistently freezing when I try to automate single sounds in kit and I’m not even getting half as wild as Ron in the demo. Perhaps I need to make sure that I’m on latest community fw.
There should be quite a bit of factory content. No demo songs but synth patches and drum kits and samples. You can download it at the website as well.
Superb @RonCavagnaro
Does deluge still not have a latch for arp? New community firmware is amazing.
I wish direction ping pong would have both ping pong options.
i know they added a couple new arp parameters (dotted notes/triplets?) but not latching afaik. compared to other similar devices like Hapax, the arp still leaves a bit to be desired
You were always able to automate midi cc’s mapped to gold knobs on the deluge by pressing play and record and twisting the gold knobs.
And now you can automate them in automation view in the community firmware and without even needing to map them to a gold knob.
Simply create a midi clip, press the clip button to enter automation view, press a pad on the grid to select a midi cc or scroll through midi cc’s using the select encoder and automate to your hearts content.
I doubt it would overload the midi out buffer anymore then sending sequences of notes out via midi.
Managed to crash my Deluge twice using automation, in both cases nothing too wild, only a couple of lanes on a single track. I can’t give exact steps to reproduce other than it was a kit track, and it happened when affect entire was turned on, then reverb or transpose was the automation target. Next time I will try to recreate it I will take a pic of the LED pattern, and a definitive steps to recreate the crash.
If you can recreate it and also share the crash picture of the grid and screen that would be great thanks!
@seangoodvibes Sure, I will try it tonight and post it here.
Thanks! I wasn’t aware of the new visual automation being available for MIDI clips too. That’s awesome!
I was going to go over it in future videos . midi CC automation!
It is so much fun. I’m integrating with a Chase Bliss MKII. I’m hoping the devs find a way to save MIDI presets so you don’t have to reprogram MIDI CC’s each time.
annoying question, but back when I owned the Deluge sound quality always had a certain lacking quality to me. like, not enough headroom or something (found this to be the case with Polyend projects as well). I believe I’ve seen @circuitghost echo this.
this firmware update is bonkers. how do things like sound quality / headroom feel these days with this insane new firmware and plethora of new sound design tools? again, totally irritating question and I wish I didn’t care, but it does have an impact in my enjoyment in creating music.
The red means recording video shows a good example of how the deluge can sound in the right hands.
There is also a compressor on the deluge now which helps glue things together
Ultimately the sound quality also depends on the sounds you’re using and your personal preferences.
The synth engine is powerful and can sound amazing if you know how to design the sound you want or you purchase presets (eg boards of deluge) that sound good.
Samples are samples.
Yeah, that’s my primary reason for holding back as well. I’m seeing amazing new features but still hearing the same Deluge.
