Is that just all Syntakt? That reverb sounds great.
I’m trying to finish a track to post here, but I’m getting turned around arranging it in song mode.
I’m at row 20, and it’s like playing chess now trying to remember what moves to make that I set up four rows back.
Edit:
ALL DONE!
Just the Syntakt with the Analog Heat to keep it spicy!
All Syntakt, if I remember correctly I did some trickery with running all the sounds through the FX block double notch filter
It sounds great. If you got the time could you break that down a bit? I’d love to try to recreate that sound.
I figure you route all tracks to fx block, then do you apply reverb to the block as well? And you mean cutoff filter, of course.
I just wanted to thank everyone for listening to my music.
I know it’s dumb, but when the bots on SoundCloud repost my track on their dumb made up page, and my track has the most plays compared to the others.
I know it’s not real, but it feels good.
And to be honest, that track got away from me. I was just trying to finish it and was in too deep to try to make it sound the way I wanted.
Production is still hard for me, because I’m only a year in, so I really just stack sounds until it sounds cool, instead of making music I hear in my head.
I think this time, instead of starting with rhythm, I’m gonna start with bass.
Wait…. Bass…. Rhythm…. Bass…. Rhythm…. Drums…. Bass….
I’m gonna make a Drum and Bass track!
Time to visit Stranjahs YouTube page!
Same boat not alone!!!
Sure, however, it is been awhile and I kinda did that pretty fast (as I wrote, morning jam probably before walking the dog
)… Unfortunately, I didn’t save the pattern afterwards, bad habit doing music on dev devices and dev firmware… Anyway here is what I remember and can hear from the recording…
As I write, I used SY TOY to make short percussive sounds, bell/pluck like leads and longer pads… I find that most longer sounds becomes nicer with a tiny bit vibrato (using one of the LFOs with a tiny amount + some fade in time). I usually make these quick things using live rec and record in some parameter changes as well. All the tracks have plenty of delay/reverb on them and routed to the FX block using double notch with an LFO modulating the filter frequency for some phaser like movement.
The reverb is probably not routed through the FX block, so I can add more reverb to the sounds from there (not sure if I did that)… The parameters for the reverb and delay I probably just set to something I liked for this, delay is probably going to the reverb as well…
I hope my description is helpful, but it is not really that special. I am sure you can cook up something better!
I think I did a similar thing using the FX block the factory pattern called “vinterregn”, A15 I think. I like that swirly phaser sound on pads/atmospheric stuff… You can check that out if you want
cheers!
All Syntakt…
This is dope! Thank you!
I actually screenshotted this and will go through it to recreate what you did, but not reference your track. I want to go into it blind and see what I come up with.
I’m getting better at production but still only a year in, and it’s time to lean into LFOs and modulation.
It’s funny, but using an LFO for a phaser effect is exactly how the MoogerFooger 103 works. I picked up that pedal, a while before Moog put out the vst’s.
Anyways, thanks for the breakdown!
This is dope. I loved the dubby aspect of it.
Very good
Thank you both @BLKrbbt and @bloody.water i am having loads of fun with the syntakt. I think i have more fun then when i took the digitone for a first spin… but… when i got the digitakt i was more excited…
Your sound is spot on. Taking note
My first ever video of my first ever Syntakt jam. I hope to make it a habit to post videos of my jams more often in the future, if I can find the time. This was a lot of firsts for me, messing with video editing, jamming on a Syntakt, etc, but at least I had fun doing it. ![]()
(Technically not 100% standalone because I did run it through Overbridge to mix things a bit better than what I can achieve on the Syntakt itself.)
Just trying to rip off thundercat
Here is an early Daft Punk inspired jam. I am trying to emulate music I like rather than blindly creating my own, I think through emulation I will inevitably become realized in my own way.
I wish this device had the ability to slide parameter locks. That’s probably my biggest qualm with many parameter locks, I’d like for them to run smoothly in future Elektron devices. The stepping provides unexpected results so it’s best to be able to toggle between stepped and smooth parameter locks/slides.
I used a number of Sound Toys plugins for beefiness, it’s really hard to not put Crystallizer on the chord machine, it just begs for it. The whole thing begs for Decapitator to further enhance the analog drive.
I love the soundtoys bundle… How do you apply the effects to specific tracks? Overbridge to split up the tracks in a Daw? Decapitator on the master channel?
