Can we normalize the recording?
Sure! The reason I suggested no external FX was that loading the sysex and playing it on your machine should sound the same as the posted demo. So normalizing is totally fine.
Unbelievable trippy voices. Wow!
Need to learn your project)
Swarm 8 tracks, across 2-3 patterns. I ran some of the voices directly in the verb so it’s wet only and then the verb in the FX track with some p-locking.
I used the double notch filter on th FX track for this phasey-sound, as well as short delay times. I don’t have computer nearby so I cannot share the project unfortunately.
Thanks! And yeah go ahead and dig in
My partner said it sounded like being in a frog pond

Here’s the Alloy track, same tricks as with the swarm, then mindless tweaking with ctrl all, until it sounds different;))
Maybe it’s key to share that I have the FX track on HP with res on, to bring in low end (probably excessive)
Love the sound design in this and the Alloy track. Makes me think of Ёлочные Игрушки ‘Christmas Baubles And Their Strange Sounds’
Here’s my Swarm track. I had tried making a track per machine when I first got the Syntakt so this comes from that one. I expanded on it to try and do an actual song. The project has the original experiment A01, I used song mode for A03-04.

I didn’t do the Alloy machine first time so will get onto that asap, there’s been some very inspirational tracks already and I’ll definitely have to experiment with the FX track as I rarely use it.
Here’s mine, only alloy machines. This was fun!
5x Swarm + FX track. Patterns A05 A06 & A07
Again, lots of downtuning and picking out resonances on the noise modulation and lots of p-locking again
Bit of muting and unmuting during recording. I will say though that in this case I would have loved some eq and compression.

Ok, here’s one much more obvious with the Swarm - cinematic dark strings. I saw @jayhosking posting a demo with the Artemis synth and I thought of doing some of this vibe myself with the ST. This is 6 tracks, basic progression, doubled and pitched up and down, lfo on tune and also modulating the pre-delay of the verb. Only one track is running wet into the verb and the verb into FX track with the double notch filter and drive. I payed specifically attention not to clip it with resonances, so it sounds controlled.
Fabulous!
This is fantastic. Makes me want to give the Syntakt another shot!
SY Swarm time
Two different directions, but still EDM realm
First up, applied square wave LFO to pitch for the kick. Its chunky.
Industrial 90s throw back?
Same project as the Alloy one, but now with these two Swarm patterns (in Bank B).

Nice one!
*and I keep wishing there was both a compressor and EQ too.
In a ‘real world scenario’ I would have just multitracked out through OB ![]()
I’m pretty amazed what everyone keeps pumping out with only one machine and how different it all sounds. Your entries are so much different than mine. It really shows the versatility of the ST, even using just one ‘crippled’ synth engine ![]()
Ouch, this is seriously grooving, top sounds as well, almost like a whispering robot or smth. Back in the day, when I bought the OG DN, it sounded to me like a wounded terminator, and ST has this vibe to it as well.
I love these types of challenges. There are so many sweet spots on these machines.
‘Sounds like a wounded Terminator’ is a great headline
But yeah both DN and ST are great at dark scruffy sci-fi sounds ![]()
There are, but a lot of them aren’t in conventional places. But that’s half the fun!
