This sounds really similar to what I did. The cool thing about the result is that nudging SHIM by even 1 got a different kick tone out of it. I found a few that were tolerable given its origin machine
Yeah I noticed the same thing with shimmer! I automated it a little bit on this track to do accents.
I donāt own a Syntakt, but came here to say that this is a really fun and interesting thread.
And hereās my quick submission for SY Swarm.
SY Swarm is so much more forgiving to work with than CY Alloy!
This recording is seven tracks of SY Swarm with the FX block faking compression for the kicks that I probably overdid.
I started off making a kick, snare, and hats with some simple filtering. Kick has a sweeping LPF to get it close. Hats and snare rely on a lot of Noise Modulation from the SYN page with plenty of filtering out the tonal sound. I like it actually, and Iāve never used SY Swarm for these sounds before! I usually go for SY Bits.
The melodic and bass tracks are bog standard synthesis. I just had fun using a Hungarian scale in D#.
This time I used Song Mode to play it out for me as a way to sequence mutes.
Oh. FX drive is at 50 something.
These sound great! If you have the time, do you think you could share the exact recipes for these?

Itās lovely to see this thread catching on with some fine tunes, interesting sounds and nitty-gritty discussions! This is exactly what I hoped for Iām hoping to contribute with some stuff next week.
@Kingvikar Welcome to the forum!
Thanks for bringing me into this
First two cuts, I might try to develop those both into fully fledged tracks
Hereās for SWARM : a deep techno/cosmic trance combo, really like that bass and melodic line !
And hereās for CY : something colder, more ātechnoyā. Honestly I didnāt think it would. e that versatile but this came out if playing with the basic sound for like an hour or so, only thing troubling me is the lack of deepness in the bass sounds
Same project for both files :

Swarm on Pattern A1, CY on pattern A2
Awesome! Iām always super impressed by CY Alloy getting interesting considering how much hate it gets. Nice ones!
Hello dear nauts!
Iām glad to take part in this venture.
Iām attaching the music and pattern of 6 tracks SY_ALLOY
STK SCLAB.stprj (13.0 KB)
Make it in one evening.
PS Iām rare use the swarm , I think it will take more timeā¦
I would like an ST to join in.
These are both good, but I really really like this one! It has a kind of āMetroid Primeā feel to it.
I really like this entry for embracing the machine for what is is!
This is my Alloy entry.
8 Alloy Machines
3x Alloy + FX track. Mostly achieved by pitching things down very low, modulating and p-locking stuff, lots of resonance and changing the amp to adsr.
3 patterns. (Two and three are just variations I saved after some control all shenanigans.) Iāll keep updating this project file with more science things as they come.
011 ST SCIENCE.stprj (5.4 KB)
Little bonus Alloy. Itās actually a very interesting kick drum designer. Once you dial in the resonance and overdrive, (I use the fx track filter for more resonance) the Cy Alloy itself becomes sort of a transient shaper. Hereās me just randomly adjusting mostly shim & mod on a pattern. Pretty nifty.
CY Alloy is taking on a new life! This is some impressive sound design peeps.
I never really understood the hate to be honest ! With a bit of filtering and mod turned to max itās the most basic and useful techno hi hat in the books, itās been the basis for a lot of my high end percussions
CY Alloy
3 different patterns, 6-7 tracks on each + FX
SCIENCE LAB1.stprj (8.1 KB)
This stuff sounds better and more original than 75% of ST tracks I hear on the internet. Kudos!
A bit busy ATM, Iāll try to participate a lil later. Keep em coming!
