SW DEALS : Software on Sale

I do not have a modular anymore, so no way for me to try it.

Yep I just went through that. It honestly feels like they are doing a data grab with this free offering. Way too many hoops to jump through, an app to Install a plugin…. It feels off to me. This reminds me why I am really sick of modern plugins and the invasive bs.

For anyone wondering what I mean. When you get the plugin it comes with an unclock code. But that code doesn’t actually unlock the plugin. You have to register on their website and create an account. You also download an app to install a plugin which is very rare. So there is a lot of chatter between your laptop and the vendors servers. Why? A free plugin should just be free. You download it and plop it into your plugin folder and move on. This one has a call to urgency (24 hours left clock countdown) and all these hoops to jump through. It’s a decent bit crusher but I’d advise avoiding.

Thanks for the warning. I hadn’t yet gotten around to downloading and installing it; not sure I’m willing to go through all those steps for a one knob FX plugin. “Data grab” indeed as @BassesAndPads says…

Tbf I’m sure setting up a controller on Bitdepth and sample rate would take a few minutes in live , but it’s a convenient plugin
I didn’t mind the installer as it also has uninstall , most plugins don’t even have that
But I agree … free is free but I expect they usually come with email / account sign up that I can unsubscribe from instantly.
Even ‘purchase as guest’ needed address and phone number .

Yeah, this is way too much for a simple free plugin. Decided I’d install even though I’m trying to be discerning given the amount of free stuff out there - but I do like this function in my Osiris, just doesn’t really shine in the context of a wavetable voice. Plus I already have an account.

But even at that I had to sign into a separate support section of the site to get the license. Again, fine for me because it also applies to my Osiris, but wouldn’t do it if it was just for this plug. It’s nice and everything on an initial test and it’s a nice approach that is somewhat differentiated from offerings by e.g. Decimort, TAL.

All the said, I would be interested in seeing what else comes in this series, there are plenty of bits of Osiris the could be useful in the DAW, although for me really where it excels is getting hands on, even over and above modulating the hell out of it.

Ah, thanks for this info. I was also having trouble with the license key provided. They really need to explain that up front. Also annoyed at this. Oh well.

And again.

Materia additive resynthesizer intro price. I‘ve asked the support if it normalises everything to the harmonic series, and the answer was „Materia doesn’t follow the harmonic series, it tries to adapt each partial frequency, amplitude, phase, and envelope, separately.“ thus I immediality bought it.

Nice little Halloween sale at Cherry Audio, 40-50% off a few of their more obscure (and IMO better) emulations: PS-3300, Atomika/Polyvoks, Octave Cat, Novachord. And their free trials are very generous, so it’s easy to try before you buy.

I didn’t think I would be interested in anymore soft synths but I stand corrected. Just purchased!

Demoed this years ago and fwiw wasn’t impressed enough to follow through. Stock filter plugins in most DAWs are so good now - pretty good price for it though, don’t recall ever seeing it going that low before.

Yeah, I always demo where available. It’s saved me a few hundred dollars this year and got me using my existing plugins better.
