Seems like a cool systems, boy the different kickstarter packages sure are confusing.
One thing to notice is that the 700 euro early bird package includes both the “Alchemist” AND the “Silent Alchemist” and a 100w powerbank. I’m still not sure how “good” a deal this is (I haven’t tried to price it out) but I thought I’d point it out…
I’m always amused how after every SB a few folks say it was boring and there’s nothing new/innovative. This year, there were tons of new/innovative things…just because I may not want/need most of them personally, that doesn’t make it any less impressive.
For example, Voltage Lab2 seems super innovative and interesting, but I have a strong feeling I’m just not smart enough to use it I wasted too much time in my life fussing with my eurorack stuff just to get…anything useable, when I could’ve been making music. Love sound design, but need a balance! I still think it sounds amazing though.
Also the New Arturia 12 voice synth and the UDO Super8…cost aside, I’d have nowhere on my work table to put em and I’m not a keyboard player. They do sound incredible to my ears though.
That multichannel eurorack audio interface would be most welcome if I weren’t getting out of eurorack, but I think my time with that may be over soon.
I’ll keep tracking the Redshift6 and that little FM synth (LoveFM?) as well as the Twisted Electrons Twist synth, which are more in line with my budget and available space. Great SB this year, I thought!
It’s always fascinating with these trade shows what gear I go into them excited to see and subsequently what gear I come out of them with that subvert my expectations.
Couldn’t have cared less? PB12, Manatee
Super excited to see? Delia, Spectravox
That completely changed. And no diss to Melbourne or Moog, I love their stuff, but you really can glean in the demos from the show floor which sounds you often unexpectedly gravitate towards far more than, say, a leak on Synth Anatomy or a write up on Synthtopia can convey.
Not a great fit for Elektron I think. The Silent Alchemist only offers one 12V port at 3A, the rest are 1.5A. Elektron offers 2A power supplies. To me it seems like an overpriced USB power brick; you can get decent dual port USB-C chargers with 12V3A PD and 2 USB-C 12V PD cables like this one for less than 50 bucks.
…best merch memorobilia moment of superbooth24, was ess giving me these…
the smart version of eno’s carddeck game against writers block…in this case, just roll the dice, if u ask urself which parameter should be next to move…
